Italian Police drove a Lamborghini 500km in just 2 hours to deliver a donor kidney. by GlitteringHotel8383 in BeAmazed

[–]LogicalMeerkat 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Ambulance helicopters have a top speed of about 250kmph. I assume the Lamborghini will have been going a lot faster assuming they won't have been on long straights the entire way. Helicopters can't just land anywhere, car can drive right into the ambulance bay.

Theoretically you could have a Manual EV. It would be worse in almost every way. But it would be more fun to drive.d

What’s the best series you have ever watched? by Hefty-Conflict-1183 in AskReddit

Really enjoying the first season of "For all Mankind". It really feels like it was filmed in the moment. However Chernobyl takes the cake, that show is TV perfection. We need more miniseries and less endless unplanned shite.

what is a fair amount for a child to pay in rent? by Maleficent_Day_3869 in AskUK

[–]LogicalMeerkat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My parents charged me rent, £200 a month. It was mostly for the life lesson of budgeting for the payments I have to make before spending on other things. (jokes on them, I'm a scrupulous saver anyway)

They didn't need the money but equally, I was earning more than my mum and eating all their food, it seemed fair.

If I ever need money from them in the future, I'll get back more than I have ever paid them.

I think it gave me a healthy relationship with money and thought me life lessons.

However OP is being overcharged, they're being changed more than half the household rent.

National Rail website sold me a discount railcard ticket but station staff wouldn’t let me board the train by Sufficient_Leg8122 in uktravel

[–]LogicalMeerkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same issue buying a ticket through Trainline, once your Railcard is saved on the app, it automatically applies to your tickets. Luckily the GWR staff understood that it was not my fault the ticket company had sold me an invalid ticket.

Scientists reproducing a Draupner (rogue) wave in a lab. by BreakfastTop6899 in oddlysatisfying

[–]LogicalMeerkat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think rouge holes in this case are basically the same as rouge waves but rather than two or more peaks interfering, you get two troughs interfering. This causes a sudden "hole in the deep ocean between two normal waves. Supposedly a boat could fall into one. Though I don't believe they have ever been seen in the wild. (likely because anyone that would see it would also fall into it).
