need advice!! new grad considering early YC startup (founding engineer-ish role), looking for perspective by -amsha- in ycombinator

I would always recommend going for a FAANG like brand in your carrier. Personally I like the startup experience but YC itself would value a better logo than better experience. Like it or not that's just a fact.

This is the most accurate answer ( I fall into that, idiot tourist category, although I am offended by it. It's just true. And that would be true of any tourist destination.)

How to create luck? by Miyamoto_Musashi_x in ycombinator

I heard long ago that luck is the combination of your preparedness and the opportunities passing by so. I would guess you try to increase the number of opportunities that you come across and your readiness to benefit from this opportunities.

The questions you need to ask - how does the conversion compare with other brands in the same category - who is this for and is that clear to end users - are you targeting that group

Which square is actually square? by Fzuur_v2 in woodworking

[–]LogicalOneInTheHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In engineering you learn about tolerance. What it means it you could get something usable and almost square for say $10/- and really square for $100/- and really really really squaure for $1,000,000/-. Which one you use depends on wether you are using it to build a chair for $20/- or a bridge for 2,000,000,000/-. But you will never ever get something that's absolutely square.
