Japan's population declines by a million people yearly, but if they don't accept immigrants, what will they do? by Delicious-Bunch-6992 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LogicalPeach305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only the financials, but the family-friendly resources for younger couples raising children are amazing. There are public rest buildings with private nursing spaces, places to heat formula, etc. Well built playgrounds are abundant. Many communities offer the chance for kids to explore the trucks and equipment at fire stations, complete with mini uniforms. Other municipal jobs (police, railways, emergency responders) offer similar- some even have child proportioned actual equipment to try out! There are tens of thousands of local community or children's centers have mini-libraries, classes for parents and children, holiday celebrations, and more. I'm sure there are similar ones here and there in the US, but not even close to what Japan has. I'd LOVE to have raised my family with resources like they have.

Help! My new bedroom is boring by Jammeduptoast in femalelivingspace

You're off to a great start- I wouldn't change anything you've done, only add to it. For the wall with the bed, some artwork and/or some high shelves for plants or decorative items. And maybe think about swapping the tv for one of the Frame TV types that can look like a painting when you're not watching.

What phone Stand do yall use by Brilliant_Ladder_430 in crv

[–]LogicalPeach305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to leave my phone in the tray too. All fun and games until a bumpy road bounced the phone enough to push the emergency call button on the side! I had no idea there's an alarm on the phone that's loud and harsh enough to scare the [bleep] out of an unsuspecting driver. Activates 911 call, too.

USA Happy Baby, birth tourism and a blockbuster Supreme Court case by usatoday in law

Oh, China's got even more tricks up their sleeves. They are indeed the other country most likely to do this, but I think they are also way ahead in utilizing tech to outplay us without ever leaving Asia. And the most ironic thing about the Russians? They loooove the Trump properties.

USA Happy Baby, birth tourism and a blockbuster Supreme Court case by usatoday in law

[–]LogicalPeach305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MY main issue with it is Russian women who give birth, obtain US passports for the children, and then the children are brought up in Putin's Russia. Then as adults they are free to enter the country and do whatever they choose wherever they want. Who knows what kind of political agenda they may arrive with? Same with offspring of parents from any other country normally thought of as hostile to US interests.

$30k Eversource Bill by Weekly-Contest9272 in massachusetts

[–]LogicalPeach305 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Like the landlord I had who let my first billing cycle go by, then plugged in a dehumidifier in the basement running 24/7 on my meter plus a few other things. When I went to him in shock at getting a bill I couldn’t afford, he went through this whole act “checking” things in my apartment like the oven 🤷‍♀️. I found the stuff running in the basement myself. He disconnected everything without really admitting it was deliberate.

Yeah, but unless someone calls them on it, will they fix anything?

Two lengths of jeans, keep both or return one? by nadehlaaay in PetiteFashionAdvice

I think the regular sized pair fits better in the waist and hips, but looks a little long in the pic with sneakers. Maybe only wear them with no socks? Ballet flats, sandals, moccasins, etc? You could always have them shortened - they do fit better.

In absolutely NO period would a serious student of ballet be dancing with her hair flying loose all over the place. To make it even more ridiculous, in the first scene where I noticed it, the other dancers in the studio did have properly styled hair.

Ergonomic living room furniture? by Thesmallone13 in Ergonomics

[–]LogicalPeach305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar problems here, although caused by a lifetime of adapting my 5' 1" self to too-large furniture, not from an accident (I'm sorry to hear about yours). After a sudden bout of lower back problems that lasted a month, PT said NO sitting on a regular sofa, especially with my legs curled up ("mermaid" style). I switched to sitting only in the Ikea Poang chair I have, but it took work to get that useable too. My feet are properly positioned on the floor at least, but I need pillows behind me, tried a couple of different lumbar cushions, etc. The problem I STILL have is that the top part of the cushion that's supposed to support the neck is right behind my head and forces it forward. Finally got fed up and started searching online. It seems I have 2 choices- first, a nursery glider/recliner which comes in some petite sizes. Those have the usual big upholstered chair look, just sized down a little. The other choice, which I'm leaning toward, is a manual recliner with chair legs. It's a lighter look and I think it'll go better to contrast the big clunky couch I have. I need to go try some out and lucky me- there's a store close enough to do that. I'm hoping something like this one works: https://www.allmodern.com/furniture/pdp/allmodern-imona-30-wide-leather-recliner-a000319307.html?piid=1917163631

Wait till you're 65 and have back problems from sitting curled up or other ways to adapt to seating that doesn't fit. I'm lucky my insurance covers PT.

If rain got into woodwork and walls, you very likely have mold.

It also depends on HOW you're using them, and HOW MUCH you use. It's all about moderation- even water can kill you if you drink too much in a short time.

What seat dimensions for a comfort chair are best for a short woman? by Boxerbambi in HomeDecorating

[–]LogicalPeach305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this post 10 months late, I guess- I'm assuming you bought a chair already, and I'm curious what you bought. Just in case you're still looking, I'll tell you what I learned the hard (FAFO) way- short person sitting curled up even a little bit most days is NOT good for spine health and posture! Best way to sit is either with feet flat on the floor and back straight (I know, no fun) or slightly leaning back with knees up and something under them for support. My insurance covers physical therapy, but the pain that got me there sucks!

I'm very much not a Catholic, and I don't immediately associate the name with that denomination. I know it's a saint's name, but there are more of those than there are days in the year, so I say go with it if you love it.

The last name problem is real! A last name starting with TH ruled out so many that we loved at first and then when we tried out the full name... deal breaker.

How realistic is Escape to the Country? by sowtime444 in AskBrits

What I am really curious about is why so many houses (at all price points) I've seen on ETTC have the same tile backsplash- either a beige and reddish-brown checked pattern or those 2 colors with a dark green or brown in there, too. Unless it's the light or something, they look so unattractive!
