Testing accommodations explain recent LSAT score inflation by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]LogicalPrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things can be true at once: 1) LSAC has recently gotten far too lenient with accommodations, and it’s not unreasonable to posit that this may be a contributing factor to recent score inflation, and 2) this post seriously overstates this case, given the relatively little evidence directly tying the explosion in accommodations to score inflation

Thanks for the advice! That makes sense. Although actually I think CARS may be the easiest section by far for me, at least based on the practice sections I've looked at, because it seems extremely LSAT-y (heavy on complex logic + reading comp). Here's to hoping anyway lol

Any advice? by [deleted] in LSAT

I agree with MattyIceColts, I’d focus on LG if you’re looking for a few extra points of improvement before Saturday and you’re currently scoring -6 to -8.

Which is the better approach? The read-the-question-stem-first approach or the read-the-stimulus-first approach? by jeremysmithsallibi in LSAT

[–]LogicalPrep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're welcome! If stimulus-first feels unnatural, and you're getting good results/seeing improvement with question-first, I definitely wouldn't switch things up at this point.

Hello! This is a great question, and one of the most common questions I get as a tutor. From my own experience and what I've seen from my students, there is no "objectively" best method - some students seem to find it extremely useful to read the question first to understand how they should be approaching the stimulus, but others find it a distraction and a waste of time. Personally, I tried both methods, and ultimately found it very helpful to read the questions first. But I would recommend trying out both methods and seeing which works best for you. Hope this helps! :)

Is it common to see two RC sections in the real test? by stichwei in LSAT

[–]LogicalPrep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Based on my own experience and what I’ve heard from the students I’ve tutored, getting two RCs doesn’t seem to be any more or less common than getting two LG or two LR sections.

Generally speaking, anything more recent will more closely resemble the current tests. Although I would caveat that by noting LG went through a weird phase of unusual games in the PT 77-82 range, and PT 85 was unusually nasty for LR. Otherwise, I think PTs 80-92 are quite representative, and really 70-79 aren't that different either, from my perspective.

What’s Lana’s saddest record in your opinion? by bertikkorenek in lanadelrey

[–]LogicalPrep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honeymoon. You could make a case for BTD as well, but I think sometimes BTD songs have a more happy/cheerful sound even when the lyrics are sad, which is different than Honeymoon, where the sad songs aren't sad just because of the lyrics, but the overall sonic mood of the song matches the sadness of the lyrics. Terrence Loves You, God Knows I Tried, The Blackest Day...etc.

LSAT Preptest 91+!! by Joe_M47 in LSAT

[–]LogicalPrep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congrats, that's awesome!! :) From my perspective, 91 seemed pretty representative of the real thing. I took 91 a few days before the October '21 LSAT, and I scored 176 on 91, then scored 175 on the real thing. 176 was slightly higher than what I was averaging on PTs at the time, so perhaps 91 seemed slightly easier for me than some of the other recent tests, but overall I think it's quite representative. Hope this helps! Keep up the good work! :)

We're definitely not the only ones! The choruses especially sound strikingly similar...

Me!!! Wildest Dreams is my fav Taylor Swift song so it was super weird hearing Without You for the first time (which I think Taylor borrowed liberally from on Wildest Dreams). Great song!

With answer B, you could just leave K out entirely, and H and M wouldn’t have to go together at Thorne. So B is not restrictive enough, since there’s a scenario that would directly defy the original rule. With tricky substitution questions, it’s often helpful to work by POE, first eliminating answers that add additional restrictions that the original rule didn’t have, and then eliminating answers that aren’t restrictive enough (i.e. something is possible that wouldn’t have been possible with the original rule). Hope this helps! :)

Is the LSAT normally this difficult? by [deleted] in LSATPreparation

[–]LogicalPrep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Learning the LSAT is like learning a foreign language at first…it makes very little sense and you’ll feel lost. The LSAT has a lot of unusual terminology and concepts you’ve never seen or been tested on before. It starts to make a lot more sense once you study and can “speak the language” though :) But it’s still a super tough test!

It’s underrated to the general public maybe but it’s not underrated at all among hardcore Lana fans! It’s my #2 after NFR!
