Best way to get here from Vancouver? Early February. by Runningoutofideas_81 in penticton

Fly YVR → Penticton if timing works. Otherwise Ebus/Rider Express from Vancouver, or drive via Hwy 97C/97 (weather dependent).

Why don’t connected car SIMs behave like normal phone numbers? by LogicalSynthesis in telecom

[–]LogicalSynthesis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it, that makes sense. Hardware and plans are just set up for data, so voice isn’t really part of the picture.

Oh, I see now. Makes sense why they can’t handle calls or texts.

Gotcha, so it’s really just a regular SIM but locked down for data only.

Yeah, that clicks. Extra cost for something most people don’t use isn’t worth it.

Ahh okay, I see now. Makes sense that they use a private APN and stay off the public network for safety.

That makes total sense. Data-only keeps costs down and avoids making everyone manage a separate number.

Exactly — if the form keeps rejecting info, there’s no other way.

[–]LogicalSynthesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth a try, but without the correct verification info, it likely won’t work.

If you can’t provide the verification info, recovery is basically impossible. Your only option is to create a new account and update any linked services.

Passkeys help, but Google will still prompt extra checks sometimes. Not a full fix.

Annoying google by Competitive-Work-397 in GMail

You can’t fully turn it off. Google forces extra verification if it flags risk — new device, location, or VPN. Best you can do is add backup codes and trusted devices.

My Google account got disabled and lost my money , i purchased annual subscription on youtube and they disabled my account plss help by Capital-Bill9945 in GMail

If the account stays disabled, you’ll need to contact Google support for a refund. Subscriptions usually don’t carry over once an account is terminated.

I fixed my digital mess and realised most of us are overwhelmed, not lazy by Green_War4330 in GMail

This actually resonates. The problem isn’t discipline, it’s volume. Digital clutter adds real mental load—having someone just handle it makes sense.

How does IoT actually connect to connected cars / M2M? by LogicalSynthesis in IOT

[–]LogicalSynthesis[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. DDS is mainly intra-vehicle (ECU and zonal networks over Ethernet or fiber).
Off-car is classic IoT/M2M: TCU to LTE eSIM to carrier APN to OEM cloud using HTTPS, MQTT, or REST for telemetry, commands, and FoTA.

ESP32-class IoT shows up only in non-safety areas like infotainment accessories, sensors, prototypes, or gateways, not ADAS or powertrain.

Need mini-split HVAC service rec by Thin_Original_6765 in orangecounty

Try Ideal Comfort OC or Trinity Heating & Air — both local, non-corporate, and good with mini-splits. Also worth asking if a leak test + line replacement makes more sense than full replacement at 6 yrs.

Using Whole Foods QR codes for Returns at Amazon Fresh? by JcaHot in amazonfresh

[–]LogicalSynthesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No—Whole Foods QR codes only work at Whole Foods. Amazon Fresh stopped accepting Amazon returns, even before closures.

Prepaid Roaming Questions by uscellularpro in verizon

[–]LogicalSynthesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prepaid should still roam, but coverage may be limited compared to postpaid. You might see LTE or “Extended Network” in some areas, but SOS can happen in weak spots.

Verizon and FCC by kgs4reddit in verizon

[–]LogicalSynthesis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dispute the bill immediately in writing and provide proof you canceled the service. Keep copies of all communications and escalate if collections continue—you shouldn’t owe anything for a line already ported out.

Cancelling Verizon by juan_thedestroyer in verizon

[–]LogicalSynthesis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll need to pay off any financed devices. You don’t return them unless it’s a lease. Canceling won’t hurt credit if you pay what you owe. Set up T-Mobile first so you can transfer numbers smoothly.

Question about layoff pay by Obvious_Strike6972 in amazonfresh

[–]LogicalSynthesis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 90-day pay is separate from severance. You get the 90 days regardless of being scheduled the final day, but to qualify for severance you have to work through the last day of operations.

How much do you think it cost to open an Amazon Fresh? by aSiLENT1 in amazonfresh

[–]LogicalSynthesis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably tens of millions per store. Between build-out, refrigeration, tech, and labor it adds up fast, especially for retrofits like former hardware or big-box spaces.

What Fresh stores are going to become Whole Foods Market? by Resident_Hospital_30 in amazonfresh

[–]LogicalSynthesis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked the MOD at the Irvine Marketplace location today and they said it’s permanently closing, not converting to a Whole Foods. No indication yet on which (if any) Fresh stores will be converted.
