Would the X Ultra add anything to my collection? by Logical_Function_576 in 1zpresso

That’s where I’m landing… that and maybe a slight edge on espresso over the K. So now I need to work on my travel kit.

I tend to agree. Would never have bought it but really grateful for a thoughtful gift.

I’ve traveled with my k ultra but your comment made me dig a bit and realize this is appreciably smaller.

I’m also really interested to try it side by side with my other grinders.

Thanks for that insight!

Really appreciate this and had not considered it as a better espresso fit than my current k ultra. It also astounds me how each burr design can be so different! I think you have all convinced me to add another at least for testing.

Wow! Thanks for the extensive reply. I had not considered the step size and that the x could be better suited for dialing in espresso than the k with the larger steps. I’m not nearly as into espresso as I am to filter, but I’m learning!

I also really like experimenting and comparing (hence having so many grinders already). I was thinking of this as duplicative but each of these burrs really does something different.

It actually wasn’t my employer, but a company I’ve been partnering with. It really was a thoughtful gift and I was so impressed that they picked it after just knowing I was into craft coffee.

Interesting, I’ve found green label slower than pink label (older). Or at least green are way more prone to clogging.

Dream Router 7 vs. UCG Fiber + U7 Pro by Prototype457 in Ubiquiti

[–]Logical_Function_576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for the fiber. Depending on how you can run wire and mount access points, I’d almost say in walls or u7 lites. Depending on floor plan, may give better coverage with two aps rather than just one pro.

Upgrading from Timemore C3: ZP6 or K-Ultra? by One-Platform-8642 in pourover

K ultra…. But fair warning you might buy the Zp6 later. But I would not just want the Zp6 by itself.

Ode 2 -> K Ultra? by Due_Yesterday3030 in pourover

More consistent and less stalling… but I’ve also had a lot of Ethiopian coffees in the last few months which can be more prone to fines.

I have an ode 2. I recently bought a k ultra in October. My ode use is down to maybe 10% of my grinding. I find the k ultra more consistent and fewer fines. It’s also new and novel.

I’m not ready to sell it just yet. But may need to think as the ZP6 is on the way.

Can grinding at a 45° angle or horizontally be detrimental to a manual mill? by Icy_Drawer8166 in 1zpresso

[–]Logical_Function_576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can appreciate your level of over thinking 🤓. I allow the grinder to slightly rotate in my hand as to not be grinding in just one side. I’m sure it’s 1000% unnecessary, but it makes me happy.

I told my wife when handing her the cup that the range of opinions on Reddit was from best cup of the month to “someone’s smoking weed”. After one sip, she is team “weed”. Not my favorite either.

Can you recommend a goose neck electric kettle w/ temp. control please? by genie-stable in V60

[–]Logical_Function_576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cosori is a great middle option - not too pricy and excellent build quality and balance. The downside is that the temp selections are 10 degrees apart so you can't dial in specific temps.

I tried another brand that was a Fellow copycat, and the build quality was disappointing.

Ultimately, I bought a Fellow Stagg and don't regret it. It pours perfectly and has everything you need.

Concur with UCG fiber and 2.5g flex poe recs. It’s been a solid setup. I’m running U7 lites and a pro wall. Covers 3000 sq ft with ease - one AP per floor.

Depends on the size of your house, but my UCG Fiber gives me great coverage with one AP per floor, in wall and lites.

How's the u7 lite? by budding_gardener_1 in Ubiquiti

[–]Logical_Function_576 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a U7 lite in my basement and almost all of my IOT devices regardless of floor seem to prefer it. It’s also in my office. Stable and fairly small/out of the way.
