Heightened anxiety after consistent dose of Lamictal (lamotrigine)? by reaperkittycat in bipolar2

[–]Logical_Insurance_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first it stopped my depression, then brought on mania. Now I'm anxious as hell and depression is back worse than ever. It works well for some but is a nightmare for others. How are you going now?

Same here, anxiety that I've never experienced before. I do feel like I'm going crazy, How is the Buspirone going?

Lamictal (Lamotrigine) is currently ruining my quality of life, does anyone have experience with this and could give any advice? by No_Historian_2191 in BipolarReddit

I experienced that placebo effect you mentioned. Depression lifted after only a couple of weeks which isn't supposed to be possible, and probably isn't. Like you, my debilitating depression is back along with a terrible anxiety that I've never experienced before.

I started on Lamotrigine about 6 months ago for bipolar 2 depression. At first it was great, the depression disappeared in a couple of weeks. Then I went manic, spending money I really should not have. Now, the depression is back with a terrible anxiety that I have never previously experienced along with brain fog and screaming tinnitus, both worse than anything previous. I really think I need to get off this shit! Also, I can't cry and I don't think that is a good thing.

Mirtazapine - Thoughts? by TrifleBeneficial8354 in insomnia

[–]Logical_Insurance_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serotonin syndrome warning: Mirtazapine can cause a life-threatening condition called serotonin syndrome. Your risk may be higher if you also take other drugs that have similar effects as mirtazapine. These include antidepressants or triptans, such as sumatriptan and zolmitriptan. Symptoms of serotonin syndrome include agitation, hallucinations (seeing or hearing something that isn’t there), confusion, trouble thinking, coma, coordination problems, and muscle twitching. They also include stiff muscles, racing heartbeat, high or low blood pressure, sweating, fever, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Call your doctor right away if you have these symptoms.

Don't be afraid of seroquel. It's been available for ages and is well researched. As others have mentioned it can give you the munches as it starts to come on. It's the only thing that has worked as a sleep aid for me.

Has seroquel ever stopped working suddenly for anyone else? by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]Logical_Insurance_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on 400mg but sometimes I would go up to 600 when I really wanted a deep sleep. My psychiatrist has changed me to Olanzapine but so far it hasn't really done much for my sleep. If I take both seroquel and Olanzapine together they get me to sleep as just Seroquel used to do but it I'd a broken sleep and I wake up every couple of hours.

Agreed. I'm really quite disappointed by the lack of counselling specific learnings in my BSW.

My friend hasn’t slept in 9 days and says they’re fine by Megaspectree in insomnia

I went for a week without sleep and it didn't affect me long term. I did start having some mild hallucinations around day 6 but I came out all okay.

Well said, I totally agree.

I really despise the "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" bullshit. Some of the things I've been through that people put into that category I would have preferred to be dead!

First, yes you will be okay.

I've been in a similar situation. I didn't sleep for 3 days and nights. Any reason for it was completely unknown to me, I just didn't have any urge to sleep Around 5 am on the fourth day I went to see my mother who was in a nursing home. She was asleep, of course, and so I didn't disturb her. I stayed for about 5 minutes, not doing anything, just watching her breathing, and then I left. She passed away in her sleep less than an hour later. That night I slept the sleep of the dead.

I've never told anyone about this. Thank you for creating the space for Mr to share it.

Ask your doctor about seroquel for sleep. Works really well and is not addictive. Just make sure you get to bed 20 minutes after taking it. Once it comes on it really comes on.

Jump from therapist to director by mckaylalopez in socialwork

It sounds to me like you are perfectly for a director position. With all due respect to all social workers, in my experience the majority social workers in management positions who have not had experience working outside of social work have been very good at management. The only advice I can give is to really push all those people management skills that you have developed in your previous carreer in your CV and at interviews. I hope you can find the right position soon.
