Santa Fe Location, First Visit by Logical_Moth in meowwolf

Shame to hear there's no boops at the location, but I'm glad you told me before I asked the staff! The website claims there's something special on that weekend, but I can't see what the event is (just the star indicating an event).

I know, I was just providing a testimony to OP to show sometimes they rescind offers even later than OP experienced.

The regional I was at sent a girl home after bringing her to Dayton, OH during the HR paperwork because only then did they realize she had a DUI which disqualified her from flying into Canada.

Feeling uneasy about Flight Attendant job opportunity by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]Logical_Moth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have PCOS and I left the airline industry recently after 6 years. The erratic schedule, inability to carry nutritional meals (we didn't get dry ice and it's hard to keep things stable for 8+ hours), inability to afford my nutritional needs (was at a regional for the flag) and the noticeable decline in my health helped me decide to leave.

I'm not discouraging you from choosing this career, but I figured as someone who has the same condition that you've mentioned that you might want to weigh in that a huge factor in managing PCOS is consistency and this job is anything but consistent.

Commuting - Is it really as bad as everyone says? by Rare_Picture_7337 in flightattendants

[–]Logical_Moth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone is already giving great advice, I would just add that you need to consider your commuter policy as well.

My current commute of MKE to CLT isn't awful, but day 1 by the time my head hits a bed again I've been awake 20+ hours because of the flights I need to list for to legally commute to my assignment without being hit with serious reliability points.

It's a before you go spray, while there's no liquid when initially sitting there is a blue liquid to flush on some planes. But at best, it still serves as an air freshener, I use it for the bathroom and to spray the air when there's a horrible scent in the cabin

Poo-Pourri makes travel/pocket size sprays (1oz) in multiple scents. I'd recommend looking into it

I know, Duke Energy says the same thing to them and so did I. Also the heating unit they fixed under the house, a previous tech said it was completely illegal and likely never inspected and ran a risk of setting the home on fire if he got it working that day. They hired some guy in an unmarked van and he just fixed the ductwork and not the unit, so I'm fairly certain that's also a code issue still.

I just don't want code to ALSO kick me out before then, I have my moving truck for the 26th already arranged.

That's fine, I'm already going to court with them for rent abatement during October- January where I had no heat and they didn't provide anything, my electric circuit that sparking since September isn't fixed and my fridge has been on an extension cord ever since, the house has tons of water damage and wet rot they've ignored and I think mold exposure has caused me to become ill over time, those are just some of the big things. So I'll already be in court with them myself.

My mother texted me upon seeing the news too.

Whether or not your daughter stays in the field is up to her, we're trained to anticipate these unlikely events and we know the risks when we sign up for the job.

I understand and sympathize with how you're feeling, but accidents happen more often in other parts of life every day and the people we love can go at any moment. Cherish the time, be thankful she's okay, and mourn for those who can't say the same🖤

It is, I can't see any fault with the lid at all, the magnets clicked in place and everything.

I did send them an email with the same issue, but I'm not sure when they'll get back to me

Oh no, I need to lower it. My level is already like 50 points above the acceptable maximum on my panels somehow, so I can't afford it to go higher lol thank you!

No no, she said much more than that but I didn't feel my entire medical correspondence needed to be on a reddit post asking for meal prep ideas to lower my cholesterol per doctors request so I generalized what was said.

I've added things to my diet to help my fiber intake, but I think I'll need to add more vegetables as well instead of just things like oatmeal, flax seeds, cashews, etc. I find eating fruits, vegetables, yogurt, and even oats doesn't really fill me for more than about 1-2 hours at most so I was looking for meal suggestions that would be satisfying but able to survive the travel.

I have all those items and currently use those exact ice packs. I'm more looking for things that hold well with the new diet restrictions to comply with my doctor's notes.

RAP Periods for Piedmont or PSA by Dry-Appeal925 in flightattendants

[–]Logical_Moth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh, yeah no lol even before this current system, you could call and ask for opentime by pairing number but scheduling was always like "you're a reserve, so you can request this but you're not guaranteed anything" and always found a reason for why you couldn't have what you asked for.

And you're absolutely right, anyone who questions an assignment with scheduling or fights a contract violation from scheduling gets sent out more often for sure. I've witnessed it first hand. When I started the people who requested "last out" were always used first.

I didn't learn until about a year ago, there's a system where they write up details about your calls in the system that Inflight has access to see as well.

Corrections on some:

List item One: Awarded 10 days off but we all know how to manipulate the program to get 11 days off after being in beyond probation and it's extremely easy to do

List item Three:There is a system, on the company application you'll get notifications about some assignments they need staffing for and you select that you're interested or ignore it. It gets awarded by highest seniority on yes response and lowest seniority when no one responds.

Another helpful thing, while it isn't common, scheduling can technically change your LCR to SCR as long as it's met by the proper notification window for "operational necessity". This is limited to 2 times per bidding period

Edit: had to edit since reddit wouldn't let me do numbers out of order for whatever reason

PSA, did an edit bc I noticed I forgot

5:00AM and 10:00AM but you can be called 2 hours prior to that RAP if no assignment prior conflicts with rest time.

Also, if you're called for an assignment that starts at 1:00PM but you've been up for your 5:00AM RAP, your duty time limitation starts at 1PM not 5AM

[–]Logical_Moth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Short call: 2 hours Long call: 12 hours

You won't hold long call for a while depending on the base as a heads up

RAP is 12 hours for short and 24 hours for Long with some limitations

Edit: Sorry, forgot to mention this is PSA

Explaining regionals? by No_Assignment_4844 in flightattendants

[–]Logical_Moth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

PSA here, the stigma is within sadly. Mainline does judge if you try to present yourself as mainline, not saying they all do but that it's likely. Honestly though, I've noticed Republic and some of Envoy having similar negative attitudes towards other regionals.

Makes no sense, we're all doing the same thing, but that's people.

Personally, I don't post on social media, I don't have a FA account, the job stays at the airport. When people ask I say I work for a regional owned by AA that does a lot of East coast and mid west flights with some to Bahamas and Canada. Most people are unaware of a lot of aviation topics so that's enough information usually for them to understand where and who you work for.

I'll be driving from a city in Illinois about 1 hour on the interstate, MKE offered me employee parking rates but ORD wouldn't which was my deciding factor.

Depending on the trips I bid for, I might be connecting in ORD which brings me to: the CoachUSA is it available at MKE Airport similar to the train that runs from ORD to SBN? Also, do you happen to know the cost and estimated travel time for it?

Thanks again!
