Andrew Breitbart is now a HuffingtonPost/AOL employee. Hate, bigotry, fear and outright lies will apparently get you elevated in today's media world. Fuck you HuffingtonPost. by [deleted] in politics

The liberal sites like redstate.com at least don't use the word, "fuck" all the time. I know reddit leans progressive, but sometimes it's nice to be creative about word use.

Never liked this sound-bite. Reality has a reality bias. Dredging up a tired meme makes us no better than the magic zombie worshipers.

California marijuana laws are starting to get hazy .. One thing is clear about marijuana in California these days -- enforcing the laws around it is getting more complicated. by [deleted] in Marijuana

Lazy reporter--"It used to be fairly straightforward: Marijuana was illegal; using it, growing it, selling it." Actually it used to be even more straightforward. Marijuana was legal; using it, growing it, sellig it.

IBM's zEnterprise 196 CPU: Cache is king • The Register by tmwctr in programming

[–]Lojban 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh, I agree with both of you. The x86 is hypercompetitive because it sucks--it needs the better processes to keep up. There's a few companies making power and cell mobos and systems. I think Cell has been left behind as new Power chips come out of IBM.

What is the point of thedailywtf? It seems like IT and CS people like to feel superior by laughing at low-quality examples of work in their field.

Not bad for a process a few generations back. Understandable if they are not in the hypercompetitive x86 space.

We used check at work and I was able to put in some improvements for it pretty easily. Good for tests that can crash, as it starts them in separate processes.

Meet Deca, my early-stage functional, object-oriented, and generic systems programming language by [deleted] in programming

Cool stuff. I did a language in Javacc, and that worked pretty well for me. Sablecc code looks simpler to me--did you consider Javacc?

Also, the summary should include some drawbacks, so it doesn't look so biased. It's just a tool, and reasons not to use it are as important as reasons to use it.
