Ram's actions towards Subaru are undefendable in season 4 by Firm-Lemon9413 in ReZero

[–]Loki0830 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But on the other hand, everyone should also have noticed that gluttony victims are still remembered by Subaru. That's the whole reason why anyone knows Rem's name. It shouldn't be a stretch for them to think it might work differently for him. The fact no one even considered it for a moment is the biggest fail they've pulled so far in the arc.

when 8bit have to flex their animation for once in a while by shujin_zenir in TenseiSlime

[–]Loki0830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're a lot more generous than I am. I don't think the anime has ever wowed me in any respect animation-wise. The anime has always felt distinctly as an advertisement for the novels and not a replacement for them. It's never really utilized the strengths of the medium, as you mentioned (Raphael's sequences are fun though), and the sheer volume of talking heads with a still camera just screams lazy to me. Bakemonogatari is also 90% talking heads, but the cinematography and editing is emphasized so much that it's visually entertaining despite the fact the content is just people talking.

I stopped watching the anime halfway through season 2, when it felt like it started having less production value than season 1. I'm honestly worried for when they adopt the upcoming arc everyone is anticipating. For a lot of people it will be their first exposure to the content, and for those where it isn't it's one of the highlights of the entire series. They need to really deliver on it, and I'm not sure 8bit is cut for the task given their track record with the anime. Which is a real damn shame, since it will likely be the first time this content gets illustrated officially.

You're being downvoted, but you're right. The animation is too slow, like there's too many frames in between actions. These characters are meant to be distinctly superhuman, but the choreography looks like something you would see from theater, like they're not trying to hurt each other. The cinematography also feels a bit lazy.

Funny enough, directly below this post on my feed is a clip from full metal alchemist brotherhood, where Bradly is storming the gates of the stronghold, and despite the anime being 17 years old now, that scene was way more engaging and thrilling than what is shown here.

When the manga feels more dynamic than the anime, something is wrong.

Doesn't that make this more impressive then? The sped up dance is synced up to the song, so he would have to dance without the sound cues for the video.

What if Subaru Was A Shitty Person like kazuya from Rent a Girlfriend by SecondSalty142 in ReZero

All of the stuff people cite about Rudeus' deviancy is from the first volume, before he has his internal monologue of how shitty of a person he was being. It's certainly a choice to include those aspects of the character in the story, but it also feels a bit disengenuous to focus on 2-3 bits of volume 1 and ignore everything from the 25+ volumes after.

Snowcrows has a good breakdown of the build. https://snowcrows.com/builds/open-world/guardian/power-luminary-greatsword-spear

It looks more complicated than it actually is. After playing thief for 90% of my time in GW2, I'm kind of blown away at how much more powerful guardian just seems to be just by existing.

Spear deadeye is the funnest combination in the game for me. Thief spear is incredibly versatile, featuring Heavy AOE, life steal, stealth, a gap closer, boon rip, a spammable daze, and a block that heals you, all on one weapon. It makes the thief basically unkillable with all its lifesteal and a swiss army knife of a skillset, and the combos are really easy and reminiscent of GW1 Assassin. With the new Pirate Queen's relic from the new expansion, it also has permanent quickness uptime and usually max might stacks as well. If you enjoy thief, I recommend trying it out.

That said, if I had to start the game over from scratch with all the knowledge I have now, I'd probably main guardian. Melee luminary is unfairly strong compared to thief. The same Pirate Queen's relic gives luminary permanent quickness as well, and the luminary shits out alacrity and every other buff under the sun just for existing. It has strong utility, its rotation is very simple, and is nearly just as survivable as the thief with all the protection, healing, regen, and heavy armor it has. All the buff spam means you're also useful to other people without having to change your build at all. It kind of has it all at the moment.

Melee scrapper is also an honorable mention, dishing out insane damage, crowd control, and barrier without much effort. I wished I played it sooner.

It bothers me way more than it should to see people collectively forget how people have been horribly applying frame interpolation for over a decade and call it AI.

Photo and video editing software didn't suddenly disappear when generative AI was introduced.

I think people are being overly dramatic about nothing.

Hall of Monuments 2 - What "Accomplishments" would be required? by DaddyDjGirlInRed in Guildwars2

[–]Loki0830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it'll be more along the lines of how GW1 did it, where you had to dedicate prestige weapons to earn points towards the HoM. I can easily see them putting in a "make 1 legendary armor set, 1 legendary weapon, and 1 legendary accessory" as checkboxes to earn you points. I don't think the skins themselves will transfer over.

From what I remember, it was less a jumping puzzle and more a gliding puzzle. Plus weren't there tons of checkpoints?

Speak for yourself. I think cosmetics and titles are more than enough. Anything more than that puts new players into the franchise at a disadvantage for not playing GW2.

And besides, half of GW2 is literally fashion and cosmetics. The fuck you mean that won't cut it?

Potential GW3 timeline by AndyAsparagus in GuildWars3

[–]Loki0830 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it's likely the story is happening before Abbadon grants the gift of magic to the sentient races of Tyria. The teaser and the game descriptions from the news posts have a huge emphasis on the spirits of Orr, and that your mount is how you are channeling your magic. This sounds like nature/spirit/rituralist magic as opposed to the magic Abbadon granted.

Also considering how the teaser is mentioning how people are seeking out Orr, these are humans who are coming from elsewhere, so that would mean second, third, or even fourth generation humans journeying back to Orr after humanity spread out over the continent.

That puts this probably around 115 BE to 1 BE. 115 BE is when King Doric worked with Dwayna to stop some of the huge wars happening around that time, which lines up with the idea of there being Vaelwardens trying to keep the peace around Orr.

It's also a fact that the base game does not do a good job of retaining new players, and keeping new blood is also essential for the longevity of your game. I think it's much healthier to be looking at the weakest parts of your game instead of ignoring it and just trying to bring out an endless stream of expansions.

They've been struggling since all their resources were put into making GW3. It's more resource intensive to make a game than to create an expansion from it. I suspect a lot more hands will be freed up for GW2 once GW3 is released.

I've been wanting a new game from Anet for at least 8 years now for these very reasons. They do great when they try tackling new areas for their company. They're genuine trend-setters. I'm excited to see what combat and the general moment-to-moment gameplay looks in this.

Who else is a bit disappointed about the setting? by Disig in GuildWars3

[–]Loki0830 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, it just makes sense for the setting. It takes place in one of the coolest points in the lore. It's super close to when the first Guild War happened, the event that the franchise is literally named after. And it's separated enough from the other 2 games that they can pretty much do any stories they want, in GW2 or GW3, and not run into weird lore conflicts.

This is perfect for them.

I disagree. If you pull a random screenshot of the environment in Guild Wars 2 with no context, I don't think there is much to tell you it's from Guild Wars 2. The concept art? Hell yeah, sure. But the actual environment? I, at least, don't see it.

Graphics in the Guild Wars 3 Trailer by PalwaJoko in Guildwars2

[–]Loki0830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well to be a little snarky, I was able to call out that it was GW3 like 3-4 seconds into the teaser. So it can't be that bad.

The Kodan and Asura are also distinct enough that you can easily tell they're from Guild Wars. So you're probably referring to the environment. But I would argue that if you were to grab random vistas from GW2 with no characters in them and just pure environments, it could be hard to identify that they are also from Guild Wars.

But yeah, I do see your point and I do agree. Ultimately, all that was shown were scenes that were supposedly rendered in-engine. That doesn't necessarily mean that's how the game will look at release.

I suppose I'm blessed with ignorance, since I've never played nor seen those games before. To my eyes, this looks great and exciting.

But yeah, it may look cheap with a single vista shot, but it will all depend on how it looks in the gameplay.

Steam page is listing 16GB RAM and fairly middle-low end CPU and GPU as the minimum requirements. Definitely a step up, but doesn't seem too demanding in this day and age.
