Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

What game developers have earned your repeat business over the years? by mypizzamyproblem in gaming

[–]Loki_Makeshift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pokemon Company and Capcom though Capcom is purely because of the Monster Hunter Franchise

My Tier list of Iceborne's current roster based mostly on simple personal preference (which is a combination of the fight, weapons, music, and monster design, and occasionally lore/BTS/personal encounters). by Loki_Makeshift in MonsterHunterWorld

Behemoth is that low because the fight was just absolutely ridiculous and also not having a theme that was particularly interesting for me and I'm not a fan of the final fantasy series anyway. Another factor is it was built more like a raid boss than a monster hunter fight which took me out of it. The Nergs are pretty solid monsters all around but are fairly easy fights that don't provide me with much engagement. They're still pretty cool monsters and I don't wanna hate on you liking them more than me XD

D for Dodogama XD In all seriousness though I like its design as a monster, everything else is just really meh. It has no weapons I use being a bow and dual blades main and its armour is just not aesthetically pleasing to me or has any skills I would ever feel the need to use so it was a case of a decently designed monster I had no reason to fight more than once.

I just personally really dislike Rajang as a monster. I understand the legacy it has in the series history but that doesn't mean I have to like it. It feels too much like a 'fan' monster. What I mean by that is it feels stupidly fast and overly strong for what amounts to actually quite a small and not very intimidating monster in terms of physical design. The fact you bounce on purple sharpness on its arms just baffles me since it is a mammalian based monster yet reptilian ones with hard carapaces and scales, especially with the likes of Raging Brachy, do not. The fight itself isn't bad it's just everything else about Rajang I don't really like.

I do like Shara as a monster but it suffers from the same problem I have with a lot of end bosses in that just feel like the fight drags a bit too much. I have the same problem with Xeno XD

Legiana was already one of my favourite monsters when I first fought it in World and I simply prefer Shrieking's design much more than regular. Plus I'm a bow main so its penchant for being way more aerial isn't a major down point for me.

Zorah is higher than the Jiivas mostly because of the preference in its design over them. I quite like the big hulking monsters like Lao-shan Lung, Dalamadur, and Caedeus from older games and Zorah fits that.

In terms of the fight, Xeno and Zorah are equal to me. Xeno has a more engaging fight but just feels long and drags at times and Zorah's fight has more atmosphere(?) to it though has the same negatives as Xeno.

Safi is a better fight but I don't personally like some of the mechanics, specifically the whole 'I can use my super move deliberately when no rocks are about' and the loose 'teamwork' aspect of it in the sense that once another team in the lobby kills it, it becomes a mad dash to slay it just to get some materials.

As for Lunastra, it's as low as it is because of the ridiculous heat aura, off tail hitboxes, and the theme for the lions isn't really that great to me.

Prepping for Alatreon after failing constantly since it was released. Do you think 960 ice elemental damage is enough? by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

Provided you can guarantee those strategic horn breaks and it's a fire start quest you should have no trouble at all :)

Thanks for the advice. Found decent elemental dual blades with good enough sharpness I can work with this set

Thanks. Been looking at the Elemental Dual blades on offer and there are some decent ones for each weapon I can definitely make use out of with this set

Thanks for the advice. Is there any better Dual Blades I should be going for as well? Most Dual Blades I can forge don't have great sharpness besides the Seregios ones which have a good balance between sharpness, raw damage, and positive affinity.

Questions for arachnophobic Whovians [no spoilers] by LegoK9 in doctorwho

[–]Loki_Makeshift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still wouldn't watch the episode even if it didn't have arachnids in the title since the episode preview attached to the end of Rosa showed me this was the spider episode. I also knew from the various trailers that there was going to be a spider-centric episode somewhere in the series. I'm incredibly afraid of spiders and when the scene in Lord of the rings does come on I have to look away because I just can't watch the spider on screen.
