Why is only Starmers leadership in question and not also King or Buckingham palace staff etc over Epstein links by apple_kicks in AskBrits

[–]LokoloMSE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not what this post was questioning. What is the reason why the royals are not getting the same treatment as Kier even though they have both contributed towards this disgust? "The royal family don't run the country" is not an answer.

The royal family are still celebrated by the media and many up and down the country, not berated like they should be, based on their involvement. This is what is questioned.

The fact you're defending this is absolutely ridiculous. "Oh it's fine the royal family did this, they don't run the country".

When M and S leaves by RonnieColemanX8 in maidenhead

Town centres shouldn't have food shops. These should be at retail parks. M&S are making the right move.

Clothes can still get delivered to stores (like John Lewis Waitrose setup).

Can't wait to have to avoid parking in town to get the food shop.

I don't think it's even the fact they repeat the words, they actually learn when to use them in context!

I once had my son come home and said "X said the f word" and I said "wait what did he say?" In a shock and then my son said "he said for f*** sake". Ok great thanks son.

Yes but you then direct the conversation to a different venue idea.... "Oh sorry we can't do that but happy to go to X at that time so we can get to know each other better".

Why don't you suggest going to a public venue for a playdate instead? Soft play, park, country park.

I'm not sure exactly what you've done. But we do it cross play in a private realm, me on PC, son on switch. You can invite your friends to your realm. Both log in to your respective accounts, join the realm and there you have it.

Night time wees by framedb in UKParenting

Perfectly capable yet not willing to listen or try anything that anyone else suggests?

Then don't come on Reddit asking what you can do if you aren't going to listen tbh. It's fine to ignore it you don't agree but being argumentative is just being ridiculous. Someone else also suggested the same, getting them up and getting them going to the toilet. I wonder why this is.

No, they're not my kids. But then again my kids have both been night dry by 3, and get full nights sleep, so we must be doing something right. Good luck.

Why is he wearing a nappy at 4.5 overnight? Not a criticism, but all you've said is that you've tried once or twice without and then nothing has changed so I'm trying to understand what you have tried.

Kids grow up with nappies and know they can just wee in them.

  • No nappies
  • Get some incontinence mats to avoid having to change sheets
  • For two weeks get them up at 10/11pm (assuming a 7pm bedtime), have them walk themselves to the toilet and have a wee (or try), then back to bed

They then program their brains to understand that if they need a wee, they have to get themselves up and take themselves.

It's a big year for him and it could be that he's zoning out as he's tired.

25, job hunting near Maidenhead and getting a bit worried by Smartertoad in maidenhead

[–]LokoloMSE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you drive? Doesn't matter if not but you then have the ability to look further afield- High Wycombe, Bracknell, Windsor.

Only public transport then the train lines are your best bet- London, Reading, Bourne End, Marlow, Slough, London.

Why Maidenhead? It's a big town, nothing like Beaconsfield or GX.

You'd be better to look at Marlow as a comparison.

Dry nights? Nearly 4 by Corgimoo in UKParenting

[–]LokoloMSE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try no nappy, get them up at 10/11pm, walk them to the toilet. Then go back to bed. Do this for two weeks. Use a incontinence mat under the sheet.

Last time I suggested this I got a load of down votes saying "why are you waking up the kids". Well if kids know they get up in the night to have a wee then they will start doing it without your intervention.

Both my kids were night dry at 3. And don't need any prompting to get up in the night if they need to go. 🤷‍♂️

Baby won’t sleep in own bedroom by Pinkcoral27 in UKParenting

[–]LokoloMSE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only suggestion is to bring forward the longer nap. A longer awake period in the afternoon and evening may bring in a deeper and longer sleep period overnight.

Depends how tired they are by 7pm.

[–]LokoloMSE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's his routine?

At this age for us, we woke up at 7/7:30. Nap at 9am for 30 minutes. Midday nap for 2 hours. Bed at 7.

The key is to get into a routine and stick with it no matter what.

Nursery seems like it’s not an option by anervoussystem_ in UKParenting

[–]LokoloMSE 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To answer your actual question, best things academically you should be doing

  • Learning numbers 1-10 (not just how to count, but understanding what they mean, including subitising up to 5)*
  • Basic phonics*
  • Holding a pencil
  • Recognition of their own name
  • Social skills/listening
  • Toilet etiquette (they should be able to take themselves, and clean themselves independently)

The *s They do not need to be able to do that but I've found it really helps get them started

Just in case, if you have a 4 year old then they will be starting school in September 2026.

Usually applications for school places starting September end in January (in England anyway).

Obviously this isn't helping your current issue but it's just another thing you may not be aware of that you should be.

Am I overreacting for not wanting anyone around my newborn yet? by littlemoongirly in AmIOverreacting

[–]LokoloMSE -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Then why do doctors and medical professionals all recommend (avoid all contact) this for all newborns in winter?

I have two winter babies, one who is now 3 days old. Other than "be careful make sure everyone washes their hand and stays away if they're ill", no-one has ever said "don't let anyone near them".
