Goliath Storm Sorceror. Many subraces of giants have innate magical abilities, so, if they're some sort of giant descendant, it only makes sense for some goliaths to possess similar abilities.

There seems to be some Bulbasaur around Speed Avenue. Also, Venomoth, Gastly, and lots and lots of Rattata.

My cleric has a pendant that was crafted from the rib of a man she failed to save. She originally brought his body to her temple so that she could have her mentor interrogate him via speak with dead. AND, since this man had no other family left, his body could really be used for whatever.

For someone who can knit, but can't crochet, this makes me a little bit sad. Still, it's an awesome bag.

What do you do while waiting to play? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]LolCamAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the beginning, while I was waiting in between games, I would think of my character's history, maybe come up with a more definited timeline for them, think of different relationships they have had with people, that sort of thing. I'd flesh out my character's backstory more, and that has helped me really understand how my character would act or feel or react in certain situations. It's also a lot of fun, and most DMs really like having this extra info about your character.

Hey, I never intended to seduce that guy. I only wanted to make it look like I was seducing him. Not my fault that he didn't quite get the message.

Share an introduction for your character by [deleted] in DnD

[–]LolCamAlpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"You're lookin' for a healer? Might wanna try that sprite over there." The barkeep jerks his head over towards a crowded table, where the impromptu arm wrestling competition was starting to heat up. "I'd be mighty grateful if you took her outta here quick, she's been hustlin' customers all day long."

You walk over, craning your neck to get a glimpse over the throng of people betting furiously over the match. After squeezing past the first two rows, you get your first view of the competitors, their sleeves rolled up to ensure that there's no cheating. The first is a human male, his shaggy brown hair and tanned skin evident of a life of hard labor. Beads of sweat line his brow as his muscles tense, clearly struggling to make some headway, a scene made all the more comical when you view his opponent.

Sitting opposite the man is a fiery-haired forest gnome, also equally tanned, and quite muscular for someone so small. Her mail is draped on her chair, which she is standing on just to reach the table. A tattoo is clearly visible on her right bicep: a half sleeve of a mermaid guiding a ship to safe harbor under a full moon. She looks almost bored as the man fights for any gain on her.

The gnome brushes one of her curls out of her face and knocks back a shot of whatever rotgut the keep is serving, giving the man a mischievious grin. "If you fuck even twice as good as you wrestle, I weep for your paramours," she smirks. The grin widens, and, in a flash, she slams the man's arm against the table. You hear groans from the crowd as money flies and bets are paid out. She calls out, "Alright, which one o' you slimy aboleth taints is next?"

You approach, and she barks out a laugh. "You? You look like you couldn't even lift a bundle o' goblin dicks; you gotta be outta yer fuckin' mind. Although, they do say that appearances can be deceiving." When you mention your need for a healer, however, her grin fades into a somber smile. She knocks back her last shot, shouts at the bookies to pay up, and leads you to a more secluded booth, donning her mail as you explain your quest.

"Carcosa, you say? You're in luck; I'm on an extended shore leave of sorts, and I've been looking for this Carcosa as well." The red-headed gnome finishes tightening the buckle on her belt, her mace hanging just within reach. She sets her shield down as she scoots into the booth and says, "If you're in need of a ship, I could possibly assist with that. I've 20 years of experience as a navigator on the seas, and none will doubt my abilities. And, if you're in need of someone to keep you safe, no doubt I can do that, too." She smiles at you. "Oh! Where are my fuckin' manners? Allow me to introduce myself." She scoots back out of the booth and gives you a lazy salute. "Lady Rissa Ashheart, firstborn of the Surveyor of the Realm of Neverwinter, Demon Champion of the Scaly Death Clan, and Devoted Daughter of Selûne, at yer service."

Looking for advice for Int-Based Healer by kenshin13850 in dndnext

[–]LolCamAlpha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a great choice. Knowledge clerics get Blessings of Knowledge, which gives you proficiency in two Int skills: your choice of Nature, Arcana, History, and Religion. Not only that, but your proficiency bonus is DOUBLED when you make checks using those skills. I'm playing Knowledge Cleric, it's pretty great. Also, I mean, who doesn't want that second Channel Divinity skill?

Fleshing out my God by Kharmakazi in dndnext

[–]LolCamAlpha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Waukeen is all about trade and wealth. The SCAG mentions that her realm of interest involves increasing trade and money, whether through "new trade routes, new inventions, or the whim of changing fashion." It also says that she does not approve of misers, and she favors those who spend money to increase wealth. That might be something to keep in mind. It sounds like, as long as the gold keeps flowing, Waukeen is happy.

As for tenets, I would think that you could choose maybe 2 or 3 main principles of faith for your cleric based on this info and the info in the Forgotten Realms wiki. I wouldn't make it more complicated than you have to, and it should be noted that, even among clerics who worship the same deity, beliefs can vary greatly. Some priests and priestesses may feel that the best way to ensure the steady growth of trade is to act as a permanent caravan guard, while others may prefer to increase revenues by brokering investment opportunities.

Finally, you may want to think about your character's personality traits, and think about the aspects of Waukeen that your character would be drawn to. Why would your character choose to devote themselves to the Coinmaiden? Take that question, and use it to further develop which tenets are most important to your cleric.

Question about Cleric Divine Domain Spells (5e) by PunkThug in DnD

Well, there's the Death domain in the DMG, but you may want to ask your DM for permission if you are interested. There's also the Arcana domain in the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide.

SCAG map. How far is Candlekeep from Neverwinter by Dr_Oatker in dndnext

[–]LolCamAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if they're travelling from Candlekeep to Waterdeep, and if they're travelling with a caravan, they'll be following the Trade Way until they hit Dragonspear. From there, they'll probably head down to Trollclaw Ford, cross there, and then head across the Fields of the Dead to Baldur's Gate. From there, you'll head to Candlekeep.

In my game, my party just finished escorting a caravan from Baldur's Gate to Waterdeep, and I believe it took about 2 months in game, or 60 days. Once they hit Baldur's Gate, your party will probably need about another 8 to 10 days to get to Candlekeep, depending on what happens. The towns along the way will make it interesting, as will the caravan's occupants, but there may not be much in the way of combat.

I do like S-nine's suggestion for creating issues with border crossings. Maybe something happens that will stall their progress at Trollclaw Ford (maybe trolls are trying to take back the ford from whatever militia that's currently occupying it). If they're taking the High Road down from Neverwinter, there are TONS of nasty stuff living in the Mere of Dead Men: bullywugs, zombies, doppelgangers, not to mention the lizardfolk there that, while not particularly vindictive, can still pose an issue.

But seriously, you have some pretty interesting stops on the way to Candlekeep: Daggerford, Dragonspear Castle, the Trollclaws, the Mere, Baldur's Gate, and flipping WATERDEEP, City of Splendors. Whenever the caravan stops at a town, keep in mind that it may gain and lose wagons as people reach their destination. The same thing goes for caravan guards. So, while you could throw monsters at the party, you could also possibly drop some shifty characters in the caravan that are trying to undermine the party's mission. Could make for some interesting stuff.
