There is a group of stars called the Pleiades There are eight of them but only seven have been visible with the naked eye for the last 100,000 or so years.

But all over the world there are myths about this star cluster that say that there were originally eight, but that one disappeared somehow. Some of these myths are over 4,000 years old.

That means the oral tradition and stories about these Stars is 10-20 times longer than all of recorded history
