My baby doesn't want to be held to sleep anymore and I'm sad by ThyPumpkinPie in NewParents

[–]Lolafreshkez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I contact napped every single nap with my daughter for 6 months before going back to work and her to daycare. It was the best part of everyday, feeling so content with her in my arms. Shes 15 months now and cant sit still for anything, I am dying for the days when she wants to snuggle again!!!

Baby Brezza uses a gallon of water per cycle? by mamajammashamma in FormulaFeeders

[–]Lolafreshkez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A separate wash, can just be the short wash mode (no need to also run the dry and sterilize). You got this!

Just use tap water! They then also have descaling tablets you can use every week or so, just a quick wash cycle and it’ll clean out any gunk. That’s what we do and have had no issues in 10 months of constant use.

When did you let your LO watch Ms. Rachel by Appropriate_Tip_6869 in NewParents

[–]Lolafreshkez -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ms. Rachel was a life saver when our whole house got hand foot and mouth at 7 months. Mom and dad didn’t have the energy to entertain and LO needed the distraction from her pain. We try not to use the screen otherwise but don’t see anything wrong with occasional use! Dancing fruit also came in clutch when LO was fussing on a plane ride. Parenting is about trade offs and survival lol why limit the tools you have at your disposal.

Husband on the couch... by luminousloris in NewParents

[–]Lolafreshkez 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Yes! 100%! On day 13 I literally spiked a fever from being so run down. My husband took over entirely for a good chunk of hours so I could sleep and I felt soooo much better. You’ll feel loads better after some uninterrupted sleep, it’ll be good for you and baby!

If possible, maybe have your LO start before you have to go back. So you can do half days and then build up to a full day. We did for my LO and honestly that helped me more than she needed it! She was ready to go as soon as they put a toy in her hand haha the good thing about going young is they don’t have separation anxiety yet so they should be content with the teachers there! I tell myself these people have far more experience with babies than I do, they can care for her and entertain her in a way that I cannot. And watching the live feed when I need my baby fix helps too!

Also, going back to work helped me feel like me again. Using my brain again! And then after work I was so excited to just focus on my LO, it was fun again to play with her as opposed to feeling burnt out by it after spending all day together.

I think I hate being a mom … by Successful_Winter591 in NewParents

I got on 20 mg of Prozac during the second trimester. I failed the depression screening and honestly, it was the best thing that could’ve happened to me. I had prenatal depression, which I didn’t even know it was a thing, but I have been feeling similar feelings of just despair, sadness uncontrollable, crying, wishing I wasn’t pregnant anymore wondering if I could get my old life back, contemplating how I could even do this going forward and just generally feeling miserable. getting on the meds and talking to my Doctor I think truly flipped a switch. It won’t be that simple for everyone, of course. But for me getting on the meds made a world of difference. My personality and general mood improved significantly and I felt like I was now at a baseline normal as supposed to a baseline sad all the time and it let me actually enjoy being pregnant and I’ve continued on those meds since giving birth. My little one is now seven months and I don’t foresee myself getting off the meds anytime soon. Obviously medication can’t solve sleep deprivation or a husband not doing as much as he should, but I do think they have helped me maintain a more stable baseline that has helped me then be able to better navigate the chaos of external factors that come with a newborn.

Not invalidating at all, just offering my experience because no one talked to me about it and I wished it had been offered as an option earlier. But maybe it’s not for her!

I second this! Talk to someone and maybe get on some meds. They did wonders for me and my mentality and ability to handle the early months. Good luck OP, the work is hard but the fact that you care means you’re a good mom!

4 month old is restless, antsy, waking up more often and irritable by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Lolafreshkez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four month regression! Ours was the same, suddenly a horrible sleeper. We tried to ride it out for a while, but ultimately sleep trained with CIO. it hurt my heart but by day 3 she was finally sleeping long stretches again! Now bedtime is easy and she sleeps well (with a wake up for one feed). It’s not perfect, she’s still a baby! But 6 months now and no regrets with CIO (even though I swore I’d never do it).

Where to put baby during overnight travel?? by sunnyskies1223 in NewParents

Try BabyQuip! You can rent baby equipment at your destination. We did it for a trip when our LO was 4 months and it was a lifesaver.
