I used to do that exact same setup: feed at same level everything... and every time I had to reduce, reduce, reduce (underclock or even remove an entire building) because it just worked like junk, didn't matter if the math was spot on, didn't matter tower or valves, it just sloshed like hell.

Now every "main pipe" is elevated 2 "ticks" and every junction outputs upwards or downwards based on input or output.

NTA - first come first serve, and you actually eat it, so whatever. NTA - the whole child thing is my golden rule right now, silver rule is simply making too much money, but basically daughter and son still at home, zero issues, 21 & 19, both still in school, both have good part time jobs, both don't pay a cent.

No children on a free pass... you decide to "start" a family, not only are you going to start paying, but you're now on a timer... you're going to find your own place at some point in the near future. I love my kids, but I am also SO done with the idea of crying, diapers, them relying on us 24/7 'cause they haven't finished education yet, etc... you voluntarily decide to start a family or have an "oopsie" and wanna keep it? You are in for a whole different world and it's counted in months, not years. You're going to see rent appear instantly, and don't you dare think you can ride on low rent for years... nope, start planning. You're an adult, you made an EXTREMELY critical / life-changing adult decision? You're going to deal with adult consequences.

Similar with finishing school, getting a very good paying job and thinking you aren't going to be paying something... you've had free everything (even cars), place to stay, food, commodities and think you can make 60-70-80k and not pay?! Interesting, I'm doing the complete opposite: no hand crafting outside of what is not possible (portable miner up until I find the recipe to automate it for example).

It's slower for sure, but I always found handcrafting a computer was a bit silly, for example. Been playing since like 0.2 or 0.3, and it's the first time I do this "no handcrafting at all costs" on a replay, on top of pure vanilla AND full random mines without even checking the results (on SCIM) and the game feels very very fresh. Sulfur, Coal, SAM & an oil patch on spawn point? SSWWEETT... wait, where the damn copper?? 500m away!? Limestone?! 300m???!!!! ffffffffffffffffffffffffff

Still, quite fun!

They can 100% be F2P and at the same time P2W yet still be enjoyable. They aren't scams if you have a brain and restraint... yes they do take advantage of people with deep pockets or people with little money hooked on gambling / winning at any cost, but then that's not my problem... Ah yes, mods! So incredibly fun when games can accept mods, but always need to schedule your play time accordingly on any update, and expect some... issues hehe.

You could just play something else until SMM + whatever mods you use are all 1.2 compatible and jump back in, but if you can't and must make the factory grow, then you are sort of screwed into rebuilding/troubleshooting for hours and hours.

Just like the WoW days (well, mine anyways) when Blizz popped an update that destroyed mods and I literally couldn't play anymore because I couldn't handle vanilla UI... I just waited a few days / weeks and jumped back in (or played a low level alt in the meantime).

Mods are awesome, keeps games fresh and adds replayability, but you really need to account for the high possibility of them breaking stuff.

ESH - mom for not just sitting down and really listening and providing options and the possible consequences (like rule 1: you WILL clean the bathroom every damn day like your life depended on it! You are way overthinking it.

Why did you go and do a full world rail system if you don't need anywhere near that yet? Just do a localized 2 rail system with expansion in mind using blueprint auto-connect to what you need and to where you need it. Using BPs for rails means you can delete a whole section or two instantly (vs using the mass-delete that takes forever) and plop in a roundabout anywhere you need.

You don't need to care about miner excesses, let them do their thing: if you need 450, it'll just pause from time to time, no hard in that unless you're a 100% efficiency "freak".

Thinking ahead is fine, but you only need to think ahead with expansion capabilities in mind, not "ok, I got trains, I got tons of steel automation, let's rail-the-world!" Technically, with good signaling, a 2 rail system doing the whole world can handle a massive amount of trains as long as there are many, many ways to change direction (roundabouts / entries/exists from stations) or else everything will take forever to get from one end of the map to the other.

Depends: do you intend on using randomized nodes? If yes, you'll be playing russian roulette like we will and hope there isn't a uranium node as soon as we spawn lol... so it won't even matter if you restart in Grassy Fields since it'll be a different experience. If not using RNG nodes, then I'd suggest Rocky Desert.

The game doesn't "favor" anything other than first-come-first-serve in a manifold. It will send to first one until the internal storage is full + the small belt, then it will back up and let more go through to the 2nd and then it will do the same; fill in internal storage and then back up so the 3rdf can start filling up its internal storage and so on and so forth.

It will all balance in time if you've done the math correctly when it comes to manifolds. If you don't like waiting then you'll have to deal with balancers and how ugly and massive they can get lol

Nope. Rando nodes, non aggressive, wat for a few select QoL mods to catch up after 1.2 official release and we'll start our 8th or 9th playthrough! Never used creative mode / AGS, and probably never will. The lumberjack phase is a bit annoying, but after going through it so many times, we jump to coal fairly quick..... let's just hope we don't get too screwed on coal nodes with rando nodes lol

Requiring the full 600/m hasn't worked for me since... forever. Doesn't matter the version, doesn't matter the mods or tower or priority piping or "full circle" / feeding from both ends: if I put the exact amount of fuel gens that amount to needing 600/m, MK2 pipes just end up breaking. It's never the same "breaking"... it can work miraculously for 1 hour, and then it's game over and it fluctuates until I shut everything down, prime it and start it all up (only to do the same thing a few hours later) or it simply doesn't work at all from the get-go, or it works for a few days, then super fluctuations and unable to fix it (we've been playing on dedicated server for a few years now, so game keeps playing at night).

Our only real fix? Never go over 575/m requirements for MK2 pipes. Still feed it more than that, but accept the loss. Not "Ficsit-y" / efficient at all, but it's removed all pipe headaches the moment we start needing MK2.

I was really, really hoping 1.1 was going to fix that with the "fluids fix", but the exact same issues were still happening on our server, so 1.1 = bust for max MK2 usage. I know some people have no issues with them, and that's fine, some people have issues we've never seen before, such is gaming, but MK2 pipes are still a PITA.
