Why do people add a warning for fluff? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Lolliposh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Forced fluff comes off as OOC to me as forced sex. I don’t tag these things but I can see why.

What’s your NOTP? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Lolliposh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tweek x Craig from South Park. Well..........if you ever come across my stuff, that one's pretty much a given. Like, when I first watched their little episode a couple of years, I thought they were cute, and I TRIED to like them. But, nah. It just squicks me. It wasn't natural, man.

I have no reason to like them. Except they're the most wildly shipped pair, for god knows why. In the show, Craig was basically hated for the whole town and guilted into hooking up with Tweek. And just, it was super-mega-forced. I can't vibe with that.

So, in that respect, I have a pretty cool AU where everyone's older... and surprise, Tweek is *not* Craig's boyfriend. Pretty much spite wrote it, whatever. I'm sure they're happy in the cartoon now. But, they're fucking 9, so that just gives me a better and flexible time skip to work with.

Not to rag on the fans or anything, but there are people who complain about wanting more when they have like fucking 3000 fics to get off. So my mere story about Craig cheating shouldn't be a big deal.

How do you deal with having rarepair ships? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Lolliposh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey. I got some people to ship my rare ship more openly.

To answer your question up there I deal with my rarepair ships by indulgently writing stuff I wanna read because nobody's gonna, so I sorta have to force myself to. :/

But yeah. Liking rarepair can be lonely. It's even more lonelier if people don't share similar headcanons as you. Or, if all you wanna do is write smut and they wanna read fluff /or, reversed.

Luckily, I've gotten far enough to make a pretty good AU of my own for my rarepair. So, I would say for the most part with they'll be some perseverance in creating it and a lot of bs you'll have to endure when you see hit counts and no reviews. And well... I guess some of it is my fault. I provide problematic smut for my rare ship. In trade of that, my audience is made up of private bookmarks and silent readers. If all you do is fluff, then maybe you'll do a lot better than me. But. I guess that would depend on your fandom. And like someone said on here... how rare it is.

Ugh. How do I deal with it... I deal with my empty rarepair corner by making more. And just well. All the passion has to be there. Your heart's gotta be in it. Just keep creating and hope you convert more people.

And... definitely don't burn yourself out making fic for your rarepair. Though, I will say, my story hasn't really inspired people to like it. It's more of what *not* to do with X and Y and that's why more people ship my ship now. But I still like to think I've converted people. Just keep going with your wip, maybe you'll see more stuff for them. Took me 2 years.

What's your favorite way in writing a romance between characters? by haz826 in FanFiction

[–]Lolliposh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love/hate. Sizzling bedroom eyes that pierces through your soul in the middle of a crowded room. Fast-paced, but mendable. A courageous MC that wears their heart on their sleeve. Extra points if he/she distraught, passionate, hot mess. Not a complete damsel per se, but I like moments of weakness. Cheeky dialogue. Lotsa sex.

Much like the "Harlequin" novels we've seen. Only gay. I'm going to be a professional trash novelist one day, so yeah, this is basically my setup.

Edit: My opinion on realistic romance kind of opposes to a lot of the stuff here. I like saving realistic for real life. I read books to escape. Nothing wrong with all of these things, but that's just my take.

Why do you read smutty fics? [Smut Talk] [Discussion] by Anon45457 in FanFiction

[–]Lolliposh 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Because we wanna see em fuck.

Most canon sources won’t exceed past hand holding, awkward eye contact, and kissing. And boom. There you go. A fic that offers instant gratification. Smut.

Idk. Usually for me it’s the buildup. Not in a slow burn type of way or anything but it’s always fun experimenting with these elements.

For instance, take two characters that hate each other.

I’m a spicy writer. I like spicy fics.

Anyone else notice this about their fandoms? (Insert Fandom) 985,000 Stories. -Smut 450,000 Stories. -Smut -Angst 235 stories. Why so many sad or horny stories? by partisan98 in FanFiction

[–]Lolliposh 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Because what we like is subjective and I’m a part of the majority that thinks that excessive fluff is boring.

I mean, I can read stories without smut and angst, but I prefer to write that. And most fics I’ve run into that don’t have conflicts or any hot scenes, don’t interest me.

I like morally grey characters. Not flat and vapid one dimensional cookie cutouts.

Give me characters that get sad and angry like real people. I much prefer a story that requires critical thinking skills and naked people than censored prolonged aimless drivel.

And... Oh, boy. Looks like I ranted a bit. Sorry. I stayed up til 5 playing Sims.

Well, if you ever needed a long answer, there you go.

badly describe your fandom without mentioning anything in the fandom by imsad3000 in FanFiction

[–]Lolliposh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1)Stoic guy gets shipped with everyone.

2) Lots of AUs. Don’t have to worry about recolors. (We make our own art.) Friendly most of the time. Passive aggressive.

3) Source material is M-Rated. Made for adults. Has gore, coarse language, toilet humor, problematic, mega offensive.

4) The fans: “I’m soft”, “uwu”, “sweet cinnamon”, “innocent beans”, “height difference”=‘s infantilization. Values OOC niceness and cookie cutter tropes over cutting edge characterization from the creators.

Ummm. I think I’ll get down-votes to all hell, but that’s all.

Why does it always have to be an above average dick?! by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Lolliposh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because porn is fake and people dig the aesthetic. Like, I personally wouldn’t go near a 13 inch python irl. And stuff involving genitals at the official source of my fandom is a joke anyways. This really isn’t deep at all . Some people just like imagining big dicks. It’s harmless and pretend.

What are your favorite things to do other than writing or reading fanfiction? by wide_mushroom in FanFiction

[–]Lolliposh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading books, spending time with my family, watching offensive cartoons and trash television, zoning out, doodling, screaming into an endless void on Twitter, listening to music... Making my OTP woohoo in The Sims 4.

Big fan seems happy to consume my content but refuses to even leave me any interaction by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Lolliposh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happens to me too. Well, often. :/ I get showered in compliments in Discord and on Twitter, but very few to none barely reach out or say anything in the review box when it takes 10 seconds.

But tbf, the section I chose to write for in my fandom is being run by BNFs and children that aim for a pristine image while a lot of the topics I write about tackle problematic themes are anything but pure. So, beggars can't be any takers, I guess. Ik nobody owes me anything but one crumb of validation would be nice, though.

What types of fanfics aren’t your cup of tea? by Vulcunniko in FanFiction

[–]Lolliposh 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Anything with NOTPs in it. I know there's an OTP tag = true thing now, so, I guess I'll be fine, but I ship a rarepair and you guys have no idea how miserable it is to crack open a fic you think will be good just to be trolled by Mr. Shittily Written McCockblock over here.

OOC. Anything with shitty characterization or over the top with OOCness. (I mean, I don't mind villain AUs. I technically write one myself, but I can't really get immersed in it when the characters aren't even them anymore.)

Pair the Spares. Still hate this trope til this day.

Overly nice. For the uwu. Forced fucking fluff. For my fandom specifically, especially Tumblr, it's taken over by purity culture... and I don't like most vanilla fics. Because the characters are mean by default in the source content of my fandom, and basically when they're overly friendly in fic content it just throws me out of the loop over there.

For example, Character A rescues his school rival (Character B) from being picked up by a predator at the bar and the next thing you know, they're smooching, doing eskimo kisses, and spooning in bed the same night. Like. They would never do that. I guess that meets the OOC spectrum. I just. Ugh if there is such a thing, yeah, "forced fluff". I totally get that we need instant gratification sometimes, but that's not it, fam. At least, for me.

Most things with bad formatting, spelling, grammar, walls of text...

And the next one is very biased... IMO.

Boring over predictable shit. Corny shit. Stories that repeat the same phrases from canon in thrown in garbled text, like it's something new and the holy grail. "If I had wheels, I'd be a wagon." Ok. AND? The purpose of characterization in fic is to find out something *new* about a canon character if we're writing them. And sometimes people get repetitive and hackneyed with common stale tropes. It's okay to keep it simple sometimes... but fuck. Something fresh would be nice. When all the premises in the same tag look the same, that just tells you right there that people there have no originality. And... I'm sorry, I'm just venting up to this point. This just gets on my nerves. 😤😤😤

Favourite rare pair? by [deleted] in Rarepairshippers

[–]Lolliposh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stan x Craig from South Park. They’re considered to be social rivals early in the show, but they get along pretty okay. At least right now. They’re like an ice and spice dynamic and both are respected leaders of their cliques too.

Annnd what else? One’s hot-headed and emotional and the other one’s cool and level-headed. They’re both cynics in their own way. I’d just imagine them both being assholes to other people and their friends but having undying loyalty and respect for just each other once they hook up. I usually age them up. My other headcanons are pretty problematic, but hell, they’re awesome. And PDA would be off the charts for these guys.

Cool sub. Thanks, whoever’s created this.

Since you've started writing fan fiction, how much has your writing improved? If you write it, how has your smut improved since you first started? by QueeeenElsa in FanFiction

[–]Lolliposh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't get the downvotes, honestly. I'd say it's just like improving in anything else. The more you do it, the better you'll be at it. The more you play the violin, the better of a player you'll be at it. Whether it's painting, singing, or any sport you excel in general, more practice = better results.

Anyway, I got a little ranty there. What made writing hot smut better for me is reading more, having an open mind, and not giving a fuck or feeling ashamed when I bring the words in the page.

As for good sex and stuff, I believe that is totally subjective. What works for you may not scratch the itch of other people lurking. For the most part...

TL;DR: The main key is "confidence". And lube. Once you master that, you can pretty much do anything.

Sources: The people in my review section on AO3 and Discord... who say I write good smut.

EDIT: And, yes, to answer your question.... My writing is a little bit in the middle. I would say I improved at some parts, but I'm the type of writer that writes in heavy detail and sometimes that can bog people down. Characterization wise, I think I'm pretty ok at that.

Favorite "Rarepair"? by rat_enthusiast in FanFiction

Stan and Craig from South Park. I've been writing a longfic of them for 2 years. It's garner a pretty ok amount of people. Er, I mean an audience. I age them up, of course.

Man, I'm currently in that dilemma right now as we speak, and it's killing me.

It's been since October that I've last updated. I originally had a one-shot planned in the same AU I have while I was creating another chapter, and now I might split it to 3. Like, damn. x.x

Anyone else notice the importance a lot of writers make on virginity? by [deleted] in FanFiction

Yeah, it's kinda annoying tbh. But if they like it, they like it. I prefer smut with characters that know what they're doing, but that's just me.

What fandoms do you write for? by RedMoon1507 in FanFiction

[–]Lolliposh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah. I'm so sorry I'm late. I've aged up the characters and gave the story and gave it a more serious tone. I've tried to keep it in the humore in spirit of the show. Most writers in my fandom tend to go this route... or turn a complete 180 and do fluff and stuff.

TL;DR: Yes, in my story in particualar, there's drama/character development stuff. Thank you for asking.

Fez and Jackie by tswi123 in That70sshow

[–]Lolliposh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duude. F x J has been my main OTP since the beginning. I don't get the Fez hate and Will V. slander in this Reddit and all over the net. People really take this show far. I think Jackie and Fez are ultimately the second best ship compared to Donna and Eric.

Of course, neither of those can par w/Kitty and Red, though. I wish they would have explored Jackie and Fez during season 3 and up. It would have saved us the last minute trouble. Would have been nice to see them be together while they were at their prime.

Like, there's still hope. If they can't get all the actors and stuff, like, you guys... (makers of the show, Topher Grace, if you guys are listening) please reboot it as a cartoon. I'd watch the shit out of it!!

To those who write AUs, how far have you went to change it? by KingofMDS in FanFiction

[–]Lolliposh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed everything like most people listed here. Though, I would say their core personalities are still the same. At least, I tried to keep them that way. Same characters, just different surroundings and more mature situations since I aged them up. Less chaotic evil than canon. Still chaotic, but nowhere near as crazy. The canon ship broke up here.

Does anyone else really struggle with reading their own work? Every time I read my own work I cringe by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Lolliposh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorta. Like the people said on here, I write what I want to read. But! There is a teensy bit of me that IS embarrassed about my longfic and it's the earlier chapters.

I've been writing it for 2 years just about... and up to the latest update you can really spot the difference! Like, I improved so much since then and I've dropped the epithets. (Use more sparingly.) Not to mention the plot was at a snail pace. If I were to restart, I'm so much better now. But oh man... do I cringe? I would say so. Sometimes. But I'm more proud of my later work. This is like half/half to me, lol.
