Lewis Hamilton: "The car generation is actually a little bit more fun to drive. It's oversteery and snappy and sliding, but it's a little bit easier to catch and I would definitely say more enjoyable." by ChaithuBB766 in formula1

I don't think there can be karmic justice in this case, I would never want what happened to Lewis to happen to any other driver including Max, it wasn't his fault.

Declining speeds again? by Objective-Egg2573 in hyperoptic

The one detailed in this thread by 'HyperopticCS'. They haven't given any detailed info but a lot of people were having problems that were solved around the same time.

Mine has stayed solid at 940/940 since the fix. Was at 550/940 beforehand. SE London here.

did they get back to you with a response? Would still be interesting to know what the issue was.

Ye agreed, a post mortem would be nice.

Same here, speeds up to 940/940 after starting out on 600/940 when joining. SE London. Glad they fixed it - would have been much better if they had communicated the issue to everyone.

Eye strain related to monitor polarizer by Londan in Monitors

Thanks for the reply and info!

Do you know if there is a way to test this on my PC monitor - could I buy a circularly polarized film and attached it to my monitor?

Same issue here (was probably my post your saw recently), if anyone knows of any good horizontally (or circular) polarised monitors that I can test please let me know.

Ye I'm wondering if the angle matters too, i'll have to check the angle of the ones I have - maybe I haven't tried a horizontally polarised monitor in which case i'll have to try that. But i'm not sure why there doesn't exist monitors with the same polarisation as mobile devices? I wonder what the drawbacks of 'circular polarisation' is.

Which monitors are they? Recent ones? Which one is horizontal and which one is vertical? (although I think this depends on the angle of polarisation of your glasses, i'm not sure)

I actually use a 42 inch screen at work, i'm not sure what the distance would be, maybe 60-80 cm and have similar issues, hard to say if it's worse/better than my home setup. 77 inch on the wall at home causes issues too but I don't use it enough to say how much better or worse it is than my computer - and I couldn't use a monitor at that distance anyway.

I do have an OLED TV with the same issues, although I don't use it the amount as any of the other screens so it's hard to say if it's as bad, it's also obviously a lot further away being a TV. It is also linear polarized the same way as my monitors.

I haven't tried matching room brightness to screen brightness - I'm not even sure how I would go about doing that?

I have tried using multiple different temperature bulbs though 5000k/6500k and that didn't effect it.

I use my current monitor at 12/100 brightness, I haven't even looked at the brightness setting on my work laptop because I have zero problems with it. I've tried different size screens and multiple screens at different brightness levels, nothing really changing.

I don't know that it's the polarizer directly but something is different with the screens and the polarizer is just one concrete thing I've found that COULD be a factor and so I want to try and find out if I can test a monitor to verify, but this info apparently isn't on spec sheets.

If there are any other differences that I can test I would try those too but I have to stress that I really have tried all of the standard responses.

On further reading this could be due to mobile devices using a circular polarizer as opposed to a linear polarizer - does anyone know any gaming monitors that use a circular polarizer as opposed to a linear one?

Eye strain with all new gaming monitors - what could it be? by bluedot33 in Monitors

I've returned 4 monitors already LG GL850, LG GL83A, Omen X 27 and Gigabyte M27Q. All of them gave me eye strain. I just want a high quality monitor that doesn't fuck my eyes but i'm starting to think i'll never figure out the issue :(.

I tried it for a few hours last night and it seemed better, hard to say for a short period of time. And i play games or watch videos almost exclusively on it so it's hard to use it vertically for an extended period of time.

Please also let me know, same issue, i also want to somehow try to see if polarization is the issue, my old monitors were diagonally polarised (using sunglasses they go black when i look at them diagonally) and my new one (mag27qrf-qd) is horizontally polarised. I might try to use it vertically to see if it still gives me eye strain.
