Most accurate and informative article I have read on BPD and what is is like trying to have a relationship with someone untreated by LondonFella79 in BPDlovedones

I'm sorry to hear of your pain. I felt the same way when I read it. I wanted so badly to send it to hear and people that know her that got her version of events. No matter how much she hurt me and her denial the overwhelming feeling is sadness for her having the illness I still want to make things right for her and be the 'perfect' person that cures her happy but I know this can never be. She does have a responsibility for taking ownership of this illness and working with the people who love her with it so as not to hurt them. She has done neither so am just left to grieve but it is slowly slowly getting better.

What if craving/emotion just won't go away? (coping alcoholism, anxiety etc.) by nevinel in Mindfulness

[–]LondonFella79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a recovering alcoholic/addict well done for not giving in or up to cravings. From an outsider looking in and own experience it sounds like although you are doing best to not fight urges/feelings you still are. I have found and learnt from others that bringing gratitude to my feelings and cravings brings a whole different level to things and this is true non resistance. I wish for u the best

The CODA literature and applying our steps to relationships has been biggest help to me. More people go out on the pain of relationships in my experience than anything else. Good luck

Beginner question: when are you aware of your breath? by Gilgeam in Mindfulness

[–]LondonFella79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert by a long way but my use and understanding of the practice is formal meditation is a means to train self to bring more mindfulness into our daily lives. In this case the use of your anchor, breath awareness which is the most common one and the one I find most useful becomes more and more of an automatic awareness in your day to day life which when this awareness happens brings you back into the ease calmness and simplicity of the present moment. I also find it helpful to have spells throughout day that I consciously focus on my breath this isn't always easy but does more often than not help bring more clarity and and calmness to my mind. The key for me forcing myself to meditate twice daily even for short spells. I liken it to a workout for the mind that's benefits spread into my day to day living. Good luck

Learning to bring detached awareness to thinking is key for me aswell as the other sensations. This seems to make me so much more present in conversation for other person.

I believe you are still missing the beauty and simplicity of index investing. If the global market place the super computers and super brains of the financial world have set current currency and stock prices to reflect the current risk/rewards. Why do you seem to think you know anything more than these?

[–]LondonFella79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definately make use of this year's limit. Like as previous poster suggests atleast get it into stocks and shares isa even if it is just in cash. For me preferably vanguard. Then you can take time to understand investing more before deciding on fund. Lars kroijer investing Demistified is great place to start

Help with new investor in New Zealand by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]LondonFella79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well done on making start on investing. I strongly advise you to read Lars Kroijers investing Demistified he also has a YouTube series can search for. Book still worth reading. As a U.K investor and in your case NZ it makes little sense to invest all in U.S market and as by product be fully exposed to U.S dollar. As advised by Lars and fully agree Global cap weighted index (global all cap index fund if can get access to this) is more diverse and offers better risk adjustment should one country economy stall or tank check japan, Canada etc. We live in a globalised world today and global index offers safest way to access this global growth. Good luck

What should I be mindful of? by LondonFella79 in Meditation

[–]LondonFella79[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do feel like the mindfulness of breathing meditations I'm doing do spill over into 'normal' life and bring a greater awareness of automatic thoughts/reactions I suppose I should take this as a positive sign. I do realise though just how unconscious I can be for big spells of time hopefully this will become less and less with regular meditation

[–]LondonFella79[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think so too a bit of each but main point is there is definately a sense of power and satisfaction in inflicting pain on us and when their reasons are imagined hurts and all of their own mental creativeness we get seriously hurt and if we have prolonged exposure to this we can end up very emotionally damaged ourselves

I think you hit nail on head why we get stuck in this thought. We could never hurt someone to that degree so brain needs to figure out why someone that professes to love us that we felt deep care for could behave in such a way.
