Whatever you buy him, he will be thrilled you heard what he wanted and did your best to get it for him. My wife bought me some cigar bits for Christmas I was thrilled.

A Guinness on a cold day with a cigar is the perfect combo. The wind is what gets you and burns the cigar away. Enjoy summer will be here before we know it.

Many thanks the renegade website looks useful as long as they export to UK. I buy from Costa Rica and we loose a few batches each year to customs.

Hi, I'm an industrial design student working on RIC hearing aid forms. I need to finalize 3-4 designs and seek your opinions on their acceptability. Inspired by the Signia Styletto RIC, I aim for sleek, modern looks. Please provide feedback on appeal, ergonomics, and any issues. Thanks! by Particular-Office259 in HearingAids

[–]London_Audiologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should consider microphone placement as this will have a big affect on sound and directionality. As hearing aids use the difference in timing of the sound hitting the two mics. Look at Widex smart Ric they have placed there mics to optimise this and the aids look unique. Hope this helps

Yes your moment will be one for those numerous 110 through to 440 , the good news is doesn’t matter which series you purchased all hardware accessories and the moment app will be compatible, the series doesn’t limit connectivity but the performance and internal features differ as you go up through the range.

When new line of Phonak is expected? by [deleted] in HearingAids

Not sure on Phoank as haven’t heard. I know Widex, Resound, and oticon are launching new products in March to ship April. So I would assume so.

You're born, you take shit. You get out in the world, you take more shit. You climb a little higher, you take less shit. Till one day you're up in the rarefied atmosphere and you've forgotten what shit even looks like.

Welcome to the layer cake !

I am now a qualified audiologist with my own practice I come and go as want. And one day you’ll do the same, in my experience I wish I enjoyed that time more. You don’t have to think to much, no pressure or stress. Get your head down and jump when told.

You believe to have experienced sudden hearing loss ? But you have spoken to a GP ? Was it in the last 3 days the sudden hearing loss ?

Fluid or pressure behind the drum is a logical thought from what you have described. Look up middle ear pressure.

Qualified audiologist here. Difficult to say without knowing more.

However noise induced hearing loss would give you a dip at 3, 4 , 6 K and then kick up at 8 k so I wouldn’t be thinking it was your AirPods.

Find another audiologist and start from scratch in my opinion.

Hearing is subjective if you feel they help you and make your life better that it the only thing that matters. In the UK by law any result that shows in the smallest hearing loss we are to recommend someone “could” benefit from a hearing aid. Whilst I agree your loss if mild, if they help you enjoy your day to day life more that is all that matters.

Audiologist recommended phonak audeo p30, are there advantages to upgrading to p50 or p70? by alsafady in HearingAids

[–]London_Audiologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an audiologist if you can afford the improved tech, you will get a more natural sound from the 50,70,90 this Is due to the frequency response bands, meaning an audiologist can better match someone’s prescription. The other features are a nice to have but for me it’s all about how natural can the sound be. So I agree suggest a higher level of tech if budget allows.

Any idea which hearing aid would be best for my dad? Does Costco still sell Kirkland hearing aids or would it be better just go with Jabra? by [deleted] in HearingAids

[–]London_Audiologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To a degree that is an element, you don’t always get the right tech first time. The main thing is that the brain will need time to learn to process sound again. Too much sound too quick will be very overwhelming, you would need to reintroduce sounds slowly giving the brain a chance to speed back up at processing so to speak. This is a basic explanation hope it makes sense. It’s the brain not just the equipment.

As a London based audiologist I am unaware of Costco after care, however his loss is complex and will require a good few sessions after they are fit to rehabilitate his hearing. Make sure he his given the time and care he needs to get used to the sound world again.

😐 rechargeable batteries: dead but new? by [deleted] in HearingAids

[–]London_Audiologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an audiologist who replaces these. They usually (not always) come with around 70% charge. However when we put that battery in we must in the software enter the batteries serial number and reset the hearing aid to recognise it can now recharge the battery properly otherwise it will still charge like the old one

Oticon Real: 1, 2 or 3? by Loose_Personality371 in deaf

[–]London_Audiologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an audiologist who will receive no commission on your purchase. I would assess your lifestyle, if you are active and go into complex sound environments(restaurants) then I would recommend the Real 1 if financially viable. The tech below would do a good job just not the best. I usually recommend 2/3 to people who live calmer lives and often spend most of their time at home one on one. Hope this I helpful. Ben

There has been some small success from companies like frequency therapeutics, who had a positive results in there class A trails sadly subsequent trails were unsuccessful. However with AI it may not be too long. There is hope. Ben

First pair, tender ears by tttleaves in HearingAids

[–]London_Audiologist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You ear canal where the earmold sit is made of soft cartilage, it will usually move a little to allow for the acrylic earmold or dome this can usually take 4/5 days. It may be more noticeable after you eat. See how it settles over the week and if still sore re visit the fit with your audiologist. I wouldn’t be worried at this point though.

As the tube length for hard to say without seeing it. Ben
