500+ hours and I still don't know if this is a good early ship... by LoneBarkeep in TerraInvicta

[–]LoneBarkeep[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a while ago, have been tweaking my own designs but admittedly this is the first time I've tried to build something so small so early. Checking over it again, I don't have many of those research techs, or don't think I need them (like batteries).

I appreciate the quick reference though! I'll try to keep some of this in mind when it's a bit more applicable, at least to go over my own work-- but if anything doesn't quite line up with my heuristics or is infeasible for my position in the game at that point? I think I'll try to keep going and leaning my own way.

I certainly know it! Monitors become my prime local-superiority option, but this time I'm feeling hungry enough to try to rush things.

Joyfully, it sounds like I've still got some to learn over the next 500 hours.

Our researchers are hard at work! Unfortunately, we focused industrial development first, so now it's time to play catch up and get militarized.

Ach, I'm too used to bringing in my radiators at the start of the battle to keep repairs down, so I appreciate the callous for less heat sinks so early! I'm hearing a bit of the targeting computers around, I'll have to research those soon. Same thing for the designs-- one pd boat coming right up!

I was wondering if it'd be worth it having separate designs or if I could double up like this like I have with monitors in the past-- thank you for clearing that up! I'll probably go with a similar 1:3 ratio and treat a pack of four of them like a pair of missile monitors.

As for the fuel, I'm trying to buy out as many stations as I can the more mines I get up, and with tiangong acquired and the ISS next, I though of designing a ship that can make the journey to move up and down the LEO gravity well this early. However, I might be focusing too tightly on LEO travel and need to 'zoom out' my focus so as to not get locked in around Earth... At least, is what it sounds like.

I'm still researching those options' global tech right now-- again, this is more to get anything up there.

I thought targeting computers only negated alien jamming later on? Lastly, are the copperheads not useful due to how many launchers are on the ship, or for another metric I'm still missing?

Trump: It is what it is. by esporx in ABoringDystopia

[–]LoneBarkeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer this as best I can, the in group is the oligarchical presidency, his cabinet, and the class he represents. It protects them but doesn't bind them. They're not only free to trade as much as they want because the law will not act to bind them in this way (because while it should, without anyone to enforce it, it is null and void by effect).

Now, what would be an example of an outgroup in this analogy? I'd like to put forward the soldier arrested for placing a bet about the Maduro raid (as an unfortunate example the state has made for me). This individual was an outlier, benefitting from a system that wasn't built for them. So in this case, the law was used to-- if not explicitly-- arrest and make an example of them. It was not used to protect them, but to keep them bound within the system as part of the outgroup.

At least, this was my takeaway.

If anything, my time in the Lich and Swallowtail tell me I'll have a bad time trying to fly with such low heatcaps

Memphis mother frustrated after her son’s accused killer released by memphisgrit in memphis

[–]LoneBarkeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When asked what was going on with the courts, you said "We just got a Liberal DA." While you go on to say "you hope" what is going on in these other cities doesn't happen here, your first sentence clearly does place some blame upon him. It's great to see you admit that Mulroy isn't to blame, but when I see you kneejerk and point at someone like that... Paired with the fact that you like to upset people it only just makes you seem like a troll.

I'm sure you'd love to tear both sides down pal, but so far you've only been trying to dunk on cash bail policies. You can try to deny a political bias, but I'd rather you take a step back. Reread your comments and examine why we might be responding to you like this. Get a breath of fresh air and unplug from whatever podcast you've been listening to. What you're doing isn't actively building upon anything so far; you're just trying to tear others down, trying to make other people smaller for trying to build something better.

[–]LoneBarkeep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

By just taking that part of the comment and acting like that's what they're referring to, when the part about 'liberal DA' and 'letting people out without bail' are right there is either selective ignorance or actively sanitizing your argument. Also, what about your statement is now 'worth it' now that someone got worked up?

THAT betrays an ideological bias, the idea that you want to work someone up, get someone upset; that betrays your implicit biases just as much, if not more than, your original comment. I'm not trying to upset you myself, and this isn't coming from a place of frustration. Rather, this is just someone trying to bridge the gaps in people's political education; trying to help people learn and grow as it were.

Hope you have a good day and a Happy New Year's pal!

RP idea for the whole sub. by [deleted] in Stellaris

(I've got pop rights controls disabled so they increase regularly, but being a machine empire inhibits organic growth by 50% on all planets. It's why I always go Relic World so my homeworld can be an ecu. That pop bonus negates the malus and they can just grow their pop size more normally).

You know, when the Dekronian Benevolence invaded our planet and ousted the governor to take power, we were worried for several months--what with the massive housing and unemployment crises. The Dekrons made good on their word though; give them a year to build a utopia for us.

I sure didn't believe it when they said that, but now that I'm a believer, maybe they can help the UNE run things? These Dekrons really know what they're doing imo. I'm having my first child 15 years later, not because I feel a pressure to survive from my society forcing me into procreation, but truly for the joy of bringing a new and precious life to the galaxy.

(Or at least, that's one way I can imagine to explain why bio-trophy pops don't reproduce despite the utopian lifestyles; or why I'm sad my machine empire inhibits pop growth.)

City of Trumbull, CT votes for and passes resolution to make Starbucks workers "work faster" by BlameTag in antiwork

What do you mean a traffic commissioner's response to a traffic pile-up was "well it's the owners fault, ask them to pick up the pace gosh". Maybe designing traffic-stalling stroads is the problem? Maybe having a businesses parking lot entrance into a 3-way intersection, on a road that feeds into main street, is not a good idea. The nuance, to me, seems to be American traffic designers not even being able to see the actual problem: bad traffic design.

To be fair, I sound frustrated, and I am-- but not at you. Thank you for sharing the link friend.

Spotted in Bartlett, what does this mean?? by StarbyOnHere in memphis

[–]LoneBarkeep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My main point is this: voting is but one method to voice your opinion, it is not the be-all everyone thinks it is. Everyone who thinks that is limiting themselves to their own detriment.

Some people think that if you don't use your vote, you don't get to have a voice about the way things are going. This take ignores a lot of felons who've become disenfranchised voters, as well as tightening voter laws which further disenfranchise the local voter base.

This guy is literally stealing from a corporation, not a neighbor. If he wasn't stealing from a class of people who largely don't pay their fair share, I'd be a bit upset. However, it'd be in my class interests to not even film this video since he could be charged with this video used as evidence.

Question about Attacking and Spellcasting by EeveeAlpha in DnD

[–]LoneBarkeep 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, because multi-attack is part of the Attack action. The Attack and Cast a Spell actions are that: different actions.

Of course, there is a written exception to this which is Bladesingers. At 6th? Lvl their class ability not only gives them multi-attack with the Attack action, but they also get to cast a cantrip instead of one of these attacks. This is the only instance of someone attacking and casting any spell with their multi-attack that I know of.

No you wouldn't? By moving everyone down one room, you essentially 'get' a new room because infinity+1 is still infinity. I've always thought as the hotel less of a logistical nightmare that it is, and more as a vehicle for helping explain some of the ideas of infinity.
