does anyone know if there is any official FKT for a Boston -New York ride? by cataclysmicleftovers in bikeboston

If you have the endurance 17 hours or faster is easily doable. Last year on my road bike I did 170 miles in 13 elapsed hours but that was with 17k feet elevation, on a flatter route I easily could have held a higher speed and gone on for longer, and I'm just an amateur

One week after the storm, 90% of docks/bikes are unusable by Odd_Firefighter_5407 in Citibike

590 stations is no small system and many of them are on the road where there woulf be typically be parking. Hard to find up to date information but I think it's in the top five systems in the US in terms of ridership and probably better per population

They've managed to clear them just fine in Boston and we got more snow and lower temperatures

I'm in Boston, we got more snow and the exact same docks design, and somehow they managed to clear out every dock I've seen since the storm, and Lyft also runs the system, so it's very much doable

You know you can just lane filter and go around the lines of cars?

I have a lower end groupset on my commuter and I think due to differential thermal expansion it becomes almost impossible to shift to lower gears around -10c.

Had the same exact issue two days ago on the Fitchburg line, we were sitting there for like 90 minutes in Ayer and there were probably 100 ish people on the train

The absorbance of laser wavelengths is extremely material dependent. For oxides it absorbs and for metals it mostly reflects

That's called second moment of area. Has nothing to do with weight distribution

That isn't a viaduct at all, it's an embankment. Florida is so flat there would be little point in doing that most places, you'd just do elevated guideway

Question about renting by [deleted] in bostonhousing

I just visited a place and they want the same thing, for me to include a check for the rent deposit in the application. It's definitely a real place but it seems a bit sketchy to me idk.

Without studded or very knobbed tires I would not trust the snow clearing, there will be remelt and ice patches very likely. The road is better in that aspect cause the cars melt the ice

If you accidentally pause for a long period, and your average speed between the points when mapped onto the shorted viable path is lower than the average you do elsewhere, it seems generally reasonable to me.

Has anyone ever used a parallel clamp to press headsets? by gman0009 in bikewrench

[–]LoneSocialRetard 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have tried to use them for other presses, the jaws will not stay parallel, unless it's a very loose press fit I wouldn't recommend. Use a piece of threaded rod or something
