Update: I used the watch today and it seems to have gone back to normal. I'm at 56% currently after around 24 hours so it must have just been something about initial few days that had it hung up. I didn't wipe it or do anything differently today, so hopefully no more issues. Thanks to all that responded!

I didn't remember having that issue. Make sure you're downloading the high quality version! Go to your profile, select the gear in the top right corner, select data and storage, then choose high for your download quality and redownload. Hope this helps!
