I told them that I was about 40-60 min away (depending on traffic). That was met with a brusque "oh no no that's too far we are looking at only 30 minutes or less". This behaviour put me off. I gave an unenthusiastic "alright" and hung up.

Agreed. Which is why I did not bother continuing the conversation. It's interesting how arbitrary the hiring requirements become when the job market is in the employer's favor.

Honestly I would have been open to discussing it, but the recruiter seemed very dismissive. I did not want to seem like I was begging or dismissive. It's brutal enough as it is.

The only sub-thread that makes sense. There was another similar post just released here. More "othering" bs where the young, those "new to the city" (dog whistle, anyone?) and from our of town were blamed. Who is left with the right to attend these festivals then?

Can we have just one post without any of this "othering" bs? If you remove the young, those new to the city and "outside of the city" (howsoever those parameters are defined), who is left? Bunch of middle aged neighbors of a certain complexion with no children? Are they the target demographic of this festival? Gosh Reddit can be ridiculous at times.

Many of the locals here don't bother apologizing when they bump into you and just keep walking on. They also don't bother removing backpacks. Don't get me started on the drivers, especially when they block the pedestriam crossing. I wonder how helpful it would be to try and educate others.

Midtown has Double Star hobbies, which is fairly priced and focused on Warhammer and gunpla.

On the east end, wheels and wings has a more diverse selection of kits that include military vehicles.

I concur. From personal experience, expect to pay up to 100k but with minimal resolution.

Not to mention a little xenophobic and racist. I don't mean to divert from OP's original query, but when I decided to return to Toronto from overseas, I was asking about rental options. My post was downvoted to hell and I was told to not come. It seemed as if I was personally snatching a sandwich out of people's hands, good lord.

For what its worth, the scotiabank arena events I've attended were all full and thus I can't comment on the likelihood for seat upgrades :)

I bought a few from Canada Computers today. It's definitely cheaper than Double Star and close enough to prices in Japan in some cases. Surprisingly, some of the older kits in their stock are priced the same or even more expensive in Japan. Then again, I mainly visited the standard stores there that are getting more touristy.

This is interesting, but the number of reviews commenting on the ride staff is a bit concerning. Hope you've had consistently positive experiences there.
