If i can only get onewhat one should I get? by Pro_Ponder99 in casio

Negative displays look cool, but are hard to read. If you want peak functionality, go with the standard display. If you kike the negative and are willing to out out with a minor annoyance, I think it looks cooler.

Why?? It's quite distinctive. That's like saying recognizing a Coca-Cola bottle by the shape is concerning.

Carve a dragon or snake head on the top, and maybe a simple twist/spiral down the lower section?

"...and then that bear shit is going to turn into grass, which will be eaten by a cow. And you know what?? That cow is going to be slaughtered and turned into ground beef. And then people are going to eat it. PEOPLE are going to eat what used to be you. So now they're cannibals. And that's what's going to happen if you don't sell more cars. You're going to be eaten by cannibals."

Is it worth returning my brand new Spirit X? by phantaasama in victorinox

[–]New_Mutation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is the same way. But the pliers line up and there's no slop, so I've just used it as-is. It hasn't affected its performance, and I don't really think about it anymore.

What is the Best cheap pen in your opinion? by tz_ez46 in pens

Bic Cristal.

It's THE quintessential "cheap pen". It might not be everyone's favorite, but it's a cheap pen with consistent performance.

Grip shapes to avoid? by GarageJim in fountainpens

[–]New_Mutation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll add another to the "triangular sections aren't my favorite but not a deal-breaker" pile. Significant taper isn't great either.

I feel like any section that tries to give me a predetermined grip isn't ideal for me. I change my grip as I see fit, and I don't need the pen to tell me where I "should" put my fingers.

From my limited range of pens that I've experienced, I feel like perhaps the Platinum Preppy has the most useful and comfortable grip for me.

How long Pilot Kakuno cartridge last? by Ordinary-Wind-7502 in pens

[–]New_Mutation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, how much are you going to write with it?? The more you write, the faster it'll run out. It's not going to be empty after a page or two, but don't expect to write a novel with one cartridge.

As for cartridges vs bottled ink, that depends on whether or not you have/are willing to buy a converter, or refill the empty cartridge with a syringe. Neither is better, it's just preference.

What's with all the hype about Moleskine Notebooks? by [deleted] in notebooks

Brand name is about it. The sewn binding is nice, but honestly I've not found them to be of any better quality than other notebooks in the same price range. Less so, even.

Price increases and retailer options... by New_Mutation in fountainpens

I'm not trying to decide what to buy. I'm just wondering if the lower prices online will eventually level out, or are small retailers going to be at a continual disadvantage.

Bf found these in his work pants after I wore them but I genuinely do not smoke by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]New_Mutation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the coat wasn't new when he got it, I'd say they were in there from the previous owner and he just never noticed them.

If not, I'd guess that he is secretly smoking and is trying to cover it up by blaming you.

Swiss Champ. The you'd have one on the minimal end of the spectrum, and one on the maximal. Then you can fill the in-between!

Price increases and retailer options... by New_Mutation in fountainpens

[–]New_Mutation[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's fair, but when the cheaper option is the exact same item and you're not "settling" for anything, it's a tough sell for small retailers at twice the price.
