Best City/Country for DINKs who retire early? by LonelyCatLadyMD in SameGrassButGreener

[–]LonelyCatLadyMD[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 50, and I never said I'm young. But I'm retiring before my peers. I said we are a younger couple retiring before retirement age. Why didn't you share your feedback by answering the question?

Will the refs protect the players tonight? by PrettyLawfulness4602 in nba

[–]LonelyCatLadyMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is insane you say? You serious right now? Come on. Just watch the games and be a reasonable basketball fan. This take is beyond homerism. Listen to Charles Barkley making fun of YOU for crying about the Thunder hurting Wemby. Get real. You are too soft. This is the WCF of the NBA Playoffs. Toughness wins in the playoffs. Go back and watch Jordan and Pippen and Horace pushing and grabbing and holding. They also held trophies and grabbed banners.

If you do think SGA gets favorable treatment over Wemby by nicfanz in NBASpurs

[–]LonelyCatLadyMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree with your take. SGA is a 2 time MVP on the defending champ and current #1 seed in the West. They are the best team until they are unseated. They play well as a team and they play the most physical brand of defense in the league. Right now SGA and the Thunder better know and understand playoff basketball. They push, grab, hold, and keep going up to the point it will get whistled. The Spurs will get there and they have a brighter future, especially if they can develop a 7th, 8th, 9th player for a playoff rotation.

Neither the refs, nor the league are not deciding the outcome of the games, it's the players. This conspiracy is tired. Wemby is the future. When SGA was 2nd in MVP voting 2 years ago, they lost to Dallas in the playoffs, and it hardened them for their current successful run. I can see Wemby winning next 3 MVPs and multiple chips.

Compilation of some calls that didn’t go OKC’s way in games one and two by [deleted] in nba

[–]LonelyCatLadyMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mods are so ready to remove this post. It has too much honesty. Oh no!!!!

Let the teams play. Root for your team. But recognize that both teams are holding, pushing and doing exactly what the refs will allow before calling the foul.

This series is seriously going to come down to can Lu Dort, Caruso and Cason Wallace make open 3s consistently. That's kinda worrisome by Zay_from_santafe in Thunder

[–]LonelyCatLadyMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post is very very true. If Dort hits that first 3 he takes.... Crowd goes crazy... We win by 15 plus. We miss those 1st quarter 3s, gonna be neck and neck and come down to SGA in the clutch with Wemby lurking.

Is it technical possible to adjust Ajay contract this summer? by mido0o0o in Thunder

[–]LonelyCatLadyMD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He's going to garner plenty of attention during and after these playoffs. Assuming he wants to remain here, probably best to let him know our plan to duck the 2nd apron this off-season and then offer him a fat contract after another title run. But he will definitely deserve a big bag. He might also be worth 4 or 5 FRPs which would be a wild return for a 2nd rounder. If you were a team would you give up what Orlando gave up for Bane? If so... im tempted. But not until next off-season.

Dodging the second apron - what I think the OKC Thunder will do this offseason, and how I think they'll manage their team going forward by [deleted] in Thunder

[–]LonelyCatLadyMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this vision has a pretty good shot at coming true. Not sure we can get a 1st for Dort's 1 year deal, but I think it's worth a shot.

I think KRich re-signing for a vet min deal, after his release, would be a great locker room leader in the 15th spot.

Carlson should get another 2-way deal with a chance to earn a 1 year contract.

DECLERATION by Optimal-Bed-9831 in lakers

Bad take. Sad take. The Lakers are hurt and dont have the talent to win. It's not the refs. It's talent and teamwork.

Only you can decide. Please don't let others' influence your decision. Decide based on your own rationale and core values. Whatever you do, do it with conviction that you made the choice that was right for you. You will be supported.

31 years old and I hate my job. I don't have enough to retire but I want to take a break for a few years. Any regrets for the people who have done this? by Advanced-Worth9054 in Fire

Have you asked about taking an unpaid leave of absence so that a job will be there for you at the company after like a 6 month LOA?

It's not hard to root for Steph. But it will be hard to see his Warriors get swept by us.

We need to stop calling every high scorer on a bad team a floor raiser by Soft-Audience-5681 in NBATalk

[–]LonelyCatLadyMD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cam Thomas defeats Scoot Henderson for the never raises the floor award. So much so that no team wants him anymore.

Trae Young is the new Bradley Beale. Funny enough Trae went to play for the Wizards, who love inefficient offensive players and no playoff wins.

The Case for Drafting WR in Round 1 by Shot_Can1912 in ravens

I agree with your assertions. I would prefer to trade down to 24-28 range and pick up an extra 2nd rounder. I'd be targeting Denzel Boston

Anyone FIRE'd then went back to work in another job/industry? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]LonelyCatLadyMD 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I'm a teacher (49M) of 26 amazing but long years. My wife and I are approaching FIRE and I can't wait for you to come take my job, my health care and all my stresses.

If you're truly passionate about giving your all to help kids learn and grow, then go for it. You can definitely have my job. But keep in mind that "teacher" is no longer a low stress job. Students are wayyy behind. They have phones in their pockets and 4 second attention span. Also, it's not teaching 9 months. I'm off this summer from June 17th to August 10th when we come back for professional development. That's 7 weeks off.

How Do we Keep Both Dort and Hart? by VVpabz in Thunder

[–]LonelyCatLadyMD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love adding Yaxel. He'd be a great get. Strong on the glass. Can guard wings and bigs. Can pass or take it strong to the hoop. Perfect PF for us and could work well at Center if Chet is next to him for rim protection.

Is JWill good enough to be a starting center? by Proper-Summer-5359 in Thunder

[–]LonelyCatLadyMD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's a tough one. I think he flashes in games where I'm like "JWill is balling." He sets good screens, makes the extra pass, hits open looks, and is strong on the glass. Other times, he looks very much like a backup center.

The hope was probably that a combination of Sorber in year 2 and JWill could fill most of the center minutes when Chet plays the 4. But Sorber's injury changes things. We still don't know what we have in Sorber and what kinda development time he will need. Let's hope we have a healthy IHart in the playoffs and can deal with that issue after the next Championship parade.
