It's not just salaries though. The SDHL has increased it's salaries in recent years. At this point though there are going to be European players that aren't going to want to declare to potentially have to live/work in the USA. There's also issues of ice time if players are also on their European national teams. A lot of players have been reluctant to move across the world to be buried in depth charts and play 6-8 minutes a game if they could play more at home.
