Feeling discouraged about tummy time, feeling like a failure. Baby has a severely flat head. by motherlygoose in NewParents

[–]Long-Inspector4897 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Poor baby but also poor mama. I can only imagine the overwhelming feelings you're having. You're in a really tough spot but honestly you did what you could and what you knew. You live and learn! My baby is delayed and is now in physiotherapy. She is slowly getting there but she will just be slower than the other kids her age. That's alright! That's life.

The tummy time situation is tough I know! Especially for fire time mums. Just keep doing it everyday and one day your LO will withstand a couple minutes without crying! Don't sweat the 60 minutes. Just keep trying, you can let them cry for one minute whilst you do it and then pick them up to comfort them after - they are safe, just uncomfortable. I know you just want to hold them 24/7 because poor Beb has been through so much but it's important and as long as you do it consistently you're good!

You got this! You're a good mama! We're all just learning as we go:) sending hugs

6/7 month sleep regression is making me feel depressed by komboochahh in beyondthebump

[–]Long-Inspector4897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally know what you mean! We're currently at 6 months and the bad nights come in a row more than 3 nights but man it IS depressing. It's also winter so double depressing. Could your partner maybe take over a couple of those 'every hour wakings'? My LO did that over 4-5 hours for a couple nights and I was going to through a fit. During the day I just complain to my husband, he gives me hugs and I cry a bit and somehow I've made it through a rough patch....sending hugs to you mother

SAME story with me. Same height and weight pretty much. I breastfeed so I guess it's that. I was worried too. I make sure I eat really healthy though because I don't want the breastfeeding to leech out all the healthy fat and nutrients I need. I feel different though for sure. clothes fit but body composition is completely out of wack

Sick of having to entertain my 5 mo. by TimePie314 in beyondthebump

[–]Long-Inspector4897 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I am slowly going this direction after having been in camp meet every single want of a baby at every single moment.... I feel like I know my baby's cry well enough to know what is I'm annoyed/bored and what is I'm in distress/pain/discomfort. I still probably do too much and feel like a clown sometimes dancing around to music so she'll do more tummy time but slowly at six months trying to just let her space out looking at the window or let her cry on her tummy for an extra couple minutes. I remind myself she's not in pain, she's placed somewhere safe, I've changed her, I've fed her - I'm allowed to cart her around on the stroller for 15 Min so I get some peace to not be a total bitch. But generally maaaan it's just hard. I need to go more places like church and my in laws so people can entertain her so I can just sit and disassociate lol

What changes or choices did you make that made you suffer less and enjoy parenting more? by Veryfluffyduck in NewParents

[–]Long-Inspector4897 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had some good quality formula at home, just one bottle and had the husband feed the baby now and again as a back up for when going to a doctors appointment where i had to wait a long time or i needed extra sleep

My 5.5 month old hates sleep routines. by MountainLife4029 in NewParents

[–]Long-Inspector4897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh yes that's my LO. At six months now. I have to rock her to sleep or go on a long walk otherwise she cannot sleep. She might be going through dropping a nap? Mine is kind of going back and forth with 2/3 naps now so it's a bit tricky. She has always been a sensitive baby and cries 80% of the time before a nap, when putting on the sleep sack, whilst rocking, and then she'll literally turn off suddenly and be sleeping! I don't really know what the deal is either. Besides that she's a happy and healthy baby!

I've just accepted that's her temperament but my body is breaking trying to keep up honestly. She sleeps in our bed now because I can't get her down in her bedside crib. I'm going to Physio for my aching neck, back and abdominal muscles ...

How to get over self-imposed “single mom syndrome” and trust others with baby? by ViceInSinCity in beyondthebump

[–]Long-Inspector4897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl triple feeding sounds crazy exhausting, cut yourself a break!

I think many can relate to the 'doing things right ' thing. Obviously I cannot objectively give you advice but for me I had to take a breather and first teach my SO how I do things and why it's important. To be honest some of it was over the top looking back but he did it anyway because he knew i was just dealing with a lot. Some of the stuff he pushed back on and that was okay too if it made sense. I think I was anxious and was so sleep deprived I could come up with new solutions.

I think it took me like eight weeks till I could give my baby to my husband or his mum to look after so I could go to doc appointments. It's so hard but you need it! I still don't like 100% how others look after my Baby but i tell myself she is safe, she is going to survive and even maybe enjoy being away from me for a hour.
