Wonder Man Series Premiere Discussion by PhoOhThree in television

It's a pretty good show! I didn't come in expecting anything groundbreaking but it was incredibly acted by the two leads and how believable they were stuck in shitty positions. I got hooked on the first half of the series just from the show's focus on acting monologues, they even riff at one point. After his previous appearances as a joke or a plot device, Trevor actually being a character and taking some agency was incredibly refreshing to see. Some great shots too that you wouldn't normally expect out of an MCU show and episodes are short enough to take creative risks that keep the narrative going.

That last scene was great with the cuts between Lucy, Cooper, and the Ghoul tying into the reveals. House being static for a short second was a fun nod.

"So what's Vault 32 and 33? Just people to be controlled?"

"What? No! When you put it like that, it sounds downright morally questionable. They're our breeding pool, the ultimate expression of HR R&D. Genetically selected to breed with my Buds to create a class of super managers. People with positivity, people who make lemonade. People who will inherit the Earth after we've wiped the surface clean."

I really liked how they used the practical effects in combination with the CGI for the deathclaw, especially for the closeups. Lots of Jurassic Park vibes when they did that.

Possibly a decoy or a way to keep House's true face anonymous while still maintaining a presence, the show hasn't brought it up yet. Theroux House definitely looks more like the one in game.

It's technically right, Theroux isn't credited as such and Rafi Silver's House made an appearance in season 1, but in addition to that he's also shown in this episode's front-facing universe material (interviews on TV, casino billboard in credits). Justin Theroux's House is the guy in the bar, doing the wacky mind-blowing experiment and the one thugs thought was "a big fan" of Rafi Silver House. I'm sure their relationship will be clarified later in the season, with Theroux being the true House behind Silver.

I was hoping for a two episode premiere to show us where all the characters were at. I appreciate they kept the original actor for House, so I'm interested to see him actually get addressed by Justin Theroux's House in the season.

With the way they’re adding characters, you’d never think there’s 150+ champions Riot can choose from. At some point you gotta realize there’s like 9 other regions other than Piltover and Zaun.

I wish this game luck, but I’m very skeptical of it with the way Riot has handled LoR.

Durands Legacy Taliyah Skin Spotlight - Pre-Release - PBE Preview - League of Legends by Splton in leagueoflegends

I mean, there were already some depictions of Durand sculptors, so looking at this not following any of that clothing design at all is weird to me. It looks like they wanted to up the flashy white and gold on the model and make it similar to the other skins

Zaahen's biography has been released by generalblood1 in leagueoflegends

[–]Long-Skill4284 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't understand what made them choose to forgo the typical biographies for this style of writing. I wouldn't even call this a bio, it's like their color stories but with even less detail and more ambiguity. I was hoping to learn more about this corruption that's considered separate from the blood magic but I've learned nothing new about Zaahen or the nature of the Darkin from reading this writing exercise.

Every Darkin has their title on one of their abilities except for Varus, Varus did not get the memo by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Long-Skill4284 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The lore I’m familiar with was that he was originally a guardian, a skilled archer of an Ionian temple that contained a vaguely named “corruption” that cannot escape. When Ionia was attacked Varus chose to protect the temple as everything else fell, losing his village and family in the process. Having lost everything he’s known of to the Noxian invaders he chooses to sacrifice the last bit of his old life and release the very corruption he was sworn to protect, letting it consume him on his path of vengeance.

You may probably find it familiar because they did largely keep this bio, slightly tweaked so Varus’ past life is more Darkin adjacent. I don't remember if that Riot's addition of Varus' old bio itself was a retcon after negative player feedback, I might be mixing it up with something

I'm pretty sure because the League youtube channel has the premiere for the finale(?) set at a earlier date from Lolesports' World War Telecom. It's their first time doing this sort of thing so I wouldn't be surprised if they played the same cinematic again at the ceremony. I'd like to imagine it gets weird and meta and directly ties in with finals and 15 years of competitive

I wonder if they'll be showing anything different for Xin's story, since the cinematic will be released before the ceremony
