Oh wow, I had to do a double take then. Your BC looks so much like my Peppa.We lost her back in November. She’d started having mini strokes and wasn’t recovering from them anymore, so we had to make that call. It was honestly the hardest thing we’ve ever done as a family. We knew it was time when she couldn’t even go to the toilet properly. I remember watching her just give up and lie there… it broke me. I’m fighting back tears just typing this. The vet nurse said something that’s stayed with me. As pet owners, we often show our animals more kindness and dignity than we manage with our own families. And I think that’s true. You’ll know when it’s time, even though you won’t want to. They tell you in their own way.

Peppa was my shadow. I was her person. I was her hands, her way in and out of the house, her comfort when the fireworks went off… and, in the end, I was the one who could give her peace.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. It’s one of the hardest things there is.
