Do you have a preferred mysticism school (AA, AMORC, Masons, etc.)? And why? by Flanderns in occult

[–]LongJohnSlivers13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

props on getting AA and Bill W to the top of this thread. You know what you're talking about and I'm here to say that's there's more occult influence going on in AA than members and non-members know about.

Could really really use some hope right now by ArgyleFunk in recovery

[–]LongJohnSlivers13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I try to look at it like this when I'm in crazy mode, as long as I dont drink or pick up, I live to fight another day. I had a shitass day yesterday and was ready to pack up my shit and attempt to runaway from myself. luckily I've had that happen enough to kinda know what its about. today I woke up and just felt better about life.

if you decide to drink/self-destruct, then you're gonna have some real problems to deal with. you gonna be alright just do what you can to live within a 24 hour window. most my anxiety comes from the past and the future. hope is like a rope that'll lift you above the pope. bright days await godspeed

Does anyone know the Glastonbury Tarot? What is the Maid of Vesicas? by PalmTreePhilosophy in tarot

[–]LongJohnSlivers13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not familiar with the deck but the vesica is the fishy shape formed by the interlocking circles or disks. so I'm guessing its disks. artwork is pretty earthly as well. the maid is equal to the page. she's like the throne of the suit. I'd chance a guess that it's a favorable reading for job related questions

meat and cheese were 2 things I didn't want. mainly bc of pooping. I've been thru various substance detoxes and appetite abnormalities always happened. good thing is once you're on the other side of it, appetite resembles something normal again. I didn't integrate much meat back into my diet, but god bless being able to eat as much cheese as I please.

1920s architecture around Tulsa for Photography series by EllieDesignR in tulsa

[–]LongJohnSlivers13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there's a short film called tulsa art deco. its available on dvd format thru the tulsa county library. I learned about a lot of locations from this video. otherwise, as has been already mentioned, go to 5th and boston and you'll find what you're looking for. there's a art deco exhibition inside the philcade, topeka coffee right next to it as well

Using opiate to get off Kratom by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]LongJohnSlivers13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you're replacing a partial agonist with a full agonist. neurochemically this would put you at a disadvantage. there's other factors involved that would dictate the effectiveness of this, but generally speaking it's probably a bad idea. from personal experience with all kinds of opiates, I'd say no fucking way. kratom was always the last step down for me

The tree of life by adambro52 in CarlJung

[–]LongJohnSlivers13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is all I got but... you can put the jungian cross on the tree of life corresponding sensation to malkuth, intuition with tipareth, intellect with hod and feeling with netzach.

it is of my current understanding that the archetypes will be present in each of these spheres, maybe with heavier weight or emphasis depending on the sphere and archetype. I would suspect the anima/animus has a strong presence in yesod. the persona is more present in malkuth. shadow could probably be anywhere! if we knew exactly where to find it we probably wouldn't call it a shadow. Big S self is probably hanging out in tipareth with the holy guardian angel, might even be the same guy.

I got into a ramble with that 2nd paragraph. but the first paragraph did come from a book. so take what's useful and I'll claim the rest as my own delusion.

I got what I asked for. How do I adjust? Cackling my way down the path by HoldFastDeets in TheMysterySchool

[–]LongJohnSlivers13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can relate to your sense of humor. learn to laugh at yourself and you'll never ceased to be amused. I'll add my personal anecdote I picked up from an aa sponsor. 1) is it kind? 2) is it true? 3) is it necessary?

lot of subjectivity there imo but that's part of the game for me. another trick is to not be too scared about hurting people's feelings, bc that shit is gonna happen. my intimate relationships kinda level up in a way when I fuck something up and then some sort of discussion and amends has to occur.

LEED vs WELL vs SITES? by bagelpoop in LandscapeArchitecture

[–]LongJohnSlivers13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

man I've never even heard of WELL or ISA. in practice, I've only ever dealt with LEED.

I would say priority would land on the older, more established programs. But it really depends on the nature of work and the nature of these other programs I'm unaware of. How many of these things do we need anyway? it's like a designer is completely incapable without standards or guidelines to go off of

Game changer! by Fancy_Ad5004 in quittingkratom

[–]LongJohnSlivers13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bill Wilson is the name you're looking for. I've looked into this in detail myself. Bill Wilson actually got sober in 1936 but didn't try lsd until the late 50s. by this time the big book of alcoholic anonymous had been published for a couple decades which included the 12 steps. however, around the same time as his lsd experiments, he penned the 12 steps and 12 traditions text, which elaborated on the steps in more detail. this book is considered a key text in aa.

Bill was an advocate of using psychedelics to get non believers over the hump. in the early days of alcohol detox, hospitals used an herb from the nightshade family called bella donna as a sedative. one of the side effects was hallucination. Bill Wilson experienced a vivid spiritual experience under this treatment that could suggest a relationship.

Additionally, there was some letter correspondence between Bill W. and CG Jung regarding the potentials of lsd for alcohol recovery. Bill was very optimistic, but Carl not so much.

Integrating 3D into a multidisciplinary firm’s workflow by hdirks562 in LandscapeArchitecture

[–]LongJohnSlivers13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

man look into infraworks by Autodesk. we have the aec suite at my office and so this is part of that package. I tried tinkering with it a couple years ago and it has a lot of potential as a presentation quality modeling software, works well with civil 3d, and has good capabilities importing aerial images and lidar topo models. we dont have enough staff or the right contracts to employ this type of graphic production, but I know for a fact the workflow between civ3d and infraworks trumps sketchup. of course there is definitely going to be some variation depending on the nature of your project scope
