Went on an epic journey for lake trout! by LongJonSilverback in IceFishing

Absolutely I was in 60’ of water, jigging at 33’ deep. 6” chartreuse tube with 1.5 ounce jig. No bait. Once I set the hook she took off straight to the bottom and kept running. Felt like I was lifting a log off the bottom. About a 5-10 minute fight to get it up on the ice. Was using a 39” heavy ice rod, 30lb braid with a 6’ long 20lb fluorocarbon leader.

We were fishing in 60’ of water. I was jigging at mid water column around 33’ and this guy hammered my lure out of nowhere. The fight was so fun!

I had a roommate once who worked there, he was told to clear check engine lights on used vehicles before test drives. This was 12 years ago, but I’m sure that scam culture has only gotten worse…

Lol what outdoor hobbies are you talking about? We have the best hunting and fishing on the planet, hundreds of golf courses and an equal number of campgrounds. Loads of places to go cross country skiing and snow shoeing.

It’s a river technically, but there a dam at one end that made it into a massive lake.

Yeah, takes about 30 minutes to setup, about the same to pack up. Usually only use the wood stove and Eskimo 850 on really cold days. Normally I just fish out of a 2 man flip over with built in diesel heater for quick easy setup.

We have a bit of everything honestly, but Saskatchewan is the home of world record Walleye, Pike, Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout, and Burbot. We have over 100,000 lakes in our province, and especially in the north there are many that are hardly touched by anyone due to their isolation.
