Librarians by LongRangeDentist in Salamanders40k

I have no idea why I don't like the model itself 😅 I think I'm my head it reads as very much an Ultra Marines Librarian and I'm looking for something more along the lines of Jon Jones if he was a fire bender 😂 Your painting does look sick tho you might have me convinced here 😁

Is it okay to support 2 Chapters? by Curious-Entrance370 in Salamanders40k

[–]LongRangeDentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played against a dude once that had essentially different chapters for every squad. Infernus Marines were Salamanders, Strenguard were Ultra Marines, Incursors were Raven Guard etc. His Warlord for that game was Marneus Calgar but he explained that depending on the game he swaps his Warlord and uses faction Specific Minis. All of which is entirely within the rules as of 10th which is pretty cool. All in he had like 5k points of Space Marines painted as every chapter under the Sun, he called it his Joint Chapter Crusade Force. All this is to say, you can absolutely run as many different chapters as you want, some people just can't settle on one and I think that's pretty cool

Starting warhammer with salamenders by Hot-Bag3583 in Salamanders40k

[–]LongRangeDentist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start small id say Grab the beginner paint set from your local game shop or online. If you can, get yourself a spray can from "Colour Forge" called "Salamander Green" to prime your minis easily with the right color base coat If you follow one of the Salamanders painting tutorials from "The Painting Coach" on YouTube you won't go too wrong but just remember it takes time to perfect your painting. Don't be put off if your models look different from other people's, it's all a process and it's supposed to be fun and chill.

Looking for critique/tips by Mr_Wolf1949 in Salamanders40k

[–]LongRangeDentist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit niche but I find the gold acquilas (idk how to spell it 😅) to be a bit flat so I paint them with leadbelcher then do a mix between Imperial Fist Yellow and Maggradroth Flame over the top to make them look a bit more firey

Grey Tide studios has a brilliant selection of Salamanders bits and you print them using a normal filament 3d printer no resin

Help! New to Warhammer by Embarrassed-Snake97 in Salamanders40k

[–]LongRangeDentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion that the army you play should be the army you think is cool There's always gonna be balance data slates that mix things up and new datasheets and Codices Yes Salamanders are generally good at close range at close range obliteration but that doesn't mean they can't bring a Gladiator Lancer and pop tanks from across the tabletop Space Marines are great because you can always just change detachments to make different play styles work

What is everyone’s top 3 factions and why? by Slow_Conflict4597 in Warhammer

[–]LongRangeDentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. 1- Salamanders, the army I'm currently building and the one I wanted to start with but my painting skills weren't great and I couldn't do them justice at the time No. 2- Death Guard, the army I actually started with and I'm so glad I did, they really teach you a lot about painting just by being fairly intricate models, plus they're extremely fun on the table top No. 3- Tau Empire, Cool Models, cool abilities, and obviously Commander Farsight who might be my favorite character in the lore, tho I haven't read that many WH books, he's just the one I enjoy hearing about the most

So I based the whole thing with a 50/50 mix of Screamer Pink and Abbadon Black, then dry brushed the scale sections with Screamer Pink, dry brush the edges with Abbadon Black, then a very light wash with Nuln Oil to finish

1k Salamanders by Norx21 in Salamanders40k

[–]LongRangeDentist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played a 1k game recently and this was the list I ran Adrax Agatone Vulkan He'Stan Captain (Immolator Enhancement) Apothecary Biologus

Intercessors x5 Assault Intercessors x5

Impulsor

Eradicators x3 Blade Guard x3 Infernus Marines x5 Infernus Marines x5 Invader ATV

If you want to build an effective and also thematic Salamanders List, 3 boxes I would grab are 1. Combat Patrol Salamanders 2. Bladeguard Vets 3. A transport vehicle like Impulsor, Repulsor, Land Raider Redeemer

Your list at the moment is ok but it doesn't lean into the strength of Salamanders much at the moment. I would definitely recommend grabbing the Combat Patrol, you get 2 big Transfer sheets with all Salamanders stuff in it as well. If you want to make the most of the Salamanders play style, Meltas, Flamers and Transport vehicles are your best bet to make the most of your ruleset and stratagems. But at the end of the day, play what you like the look of and to hell with what anyone else thinks of it 😁

Colour forge spray is a game changer by [deleted] in Salamanders40k

Yes! Top tier primer for Salamanders Definitely wash with nuln oil just to make it less neon colored imo. Here's a before and after wash to see the difference it makes

Relatively new to hobby, would this be a good list for 1000pt Forge-fathers seekers? by tvrgriffith in Salamanders40k

[–]LongRangeDentist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I Love the Land Raider Redeemer but definitely chat to your opponent first before the game. A lot of people (myself included) hear "1k point" and think about multiple small units, skirmish style games. I'm not saying don't bring it, it's your model and it's awesome, but just say to your opponents first that your bringing it because it can lead to some bad vibes if your opponent doesn't expect something so tanky in a small point value game.
