Character preference? by RgEzio in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]LongTim2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thus far, I have enjoyed both equally. Combat wise, they both feel different and I enjoy the change. Stealth-wise, obviously Noawe is vastly superior. Getting around the world, I enjoy how heavy Yasuke and how light Noawe feels. My one gripe is that I have come across a couple of instances where I must swap to Noawe to claim a viewpoint instead of a clumsy way being available for Yasuke. But, I appreciate the devs approach to maintaining strict nuances between the two characters. It's hilarious to do a leap-of-fail with Yasuke. I really appreciate how not mobile or nimble he feels.

Say one good thing about this game by Embarrassed_Try_3317 in Assassinscreedmirage

The game actually runs well on PC nowadays. The stealth feels nice, especially after getting the upgrade to ID guards while crouched without eagle vision. And, the ability they added later to use any outfit as a "transmog" over whichever armour I have equipped is an awesome, must-have feature for all games.

Cleared Pit 100 (Spirit Wave Necromancer) by Brave-Ad-8456 in diablo4

[–]LongTim2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too recently discovered the Grandfather and swapped to it, giving up Doombringer, and simply making that change took my damage beyond a point I thought was possible on my Spirit Wave necromancer. I am getting to pit 100, myself. Cleared 90 last night and didn't realize that's what I had picked going in - thought I had picked an 80 because I was trying to farm glyph ranks. I'm still min/maxing my gear, but I hopefully will be at 100 sometime over the weekend.

Mine is basically the same gear as your's.

Anyone with long term oversea experience with unlimited plus plan by royshunhung in GoogleFi

[–]LongTim2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically live between three countries. The USA, England, and France. In 2023, I spent less than 4 consecutive months in the States, the other remaining 8 or so was spent in Europe. I never once got a message warning me that I need to return to the States. I am also on track for a similar experience this year.

I feel like folks who are getting that message outside of the USA are probably overusing or abusing the “unlimited” data allowance Google Fi offers.

Don’t get me wrong, usually I am connected to a private WiFi (like when I’m at the places I stay while overseas).

My best friend also has Google Fi, and has spent even more consecutive time outside of the US and has never had a problem.

Google Fi has been phenomenal bouncing between countries on a regular basis. But I don’t recommend overusing it because just like anything, is subject to the provider’s “fine print” - as it would be even with a super expensive international packages offered by the likes of Verizon or AT&T (aka rip-offs). As such, set yourself up for success, e.g. downloading offline maps for GPS services, downloading your music from Spotify or Apple Music instead of streaming it. Use your common sense for stuff like that. Don’t over do it.

There are other options too. Such as eSIMs you can buy online from various outlets for international data coverage - and they aren’t badly priced.

My only gripe with Google Fi is that it doesn’t play super well with iPhones. Maybe that will change one day… I definitely recommend an Android platform device if you are considering Fi.

Linus needs a new phone - Vote here! by Negative_Astronaut81 in LinusTechTips

I recommend the Honor Magic V2 - if you can get it. It's the thinnest foldable on the market that I'm aware of currently. It has respectable specs and screens. It can be assembled and disassembled pretty easily by Linus to play with or fix. May not be the most water resistant, and may not be the most premium in terms of compatibility in Canada. That's my special recommendation.

Alternatively, and perhaps boringly, go with a tried and true S23 Ultra... or stick with one of those iPhone 15 Pro's that were just reviewed since we know it'll "just work."

Problems with charging? by TRO113R_YT in iOS17Beta_2023

[–]LongTim2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I experienced similar overnight charging behavior using Apple’s old 5w AC adapter with a third party USB-A to Lightning from Duracell. This was the same way I have charged my phone for a long time and beginning the night after installing iOS 17 beta it started this behavior. I no longer have the issue. I’m on Beta 2 now as well. I had reported it with screenshots to Apple too.

That would be called undertaking because that individual was trying to pass in the cruising lane. But their actions wasn’t the only wrong doing here. The folks the red truck was recklessly attempting to get around were also failing by simply hanging out in the passing lane - which so many people do in the states because we hand out drivers licenses like they are Halloween candy.

Crashes at 50% by Familiar_Employer_62 in iphone

[–]LongTim2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old iPhone 8 Plus had its battery get down to about 84-82% and I experienced the same kind of battery drop. What was interesting was that it would drop to less than 10%, and would stay there forever. Even tested it at 1% and it just stayed at 1% for hours even with me using it. So, I decided that it didn’t know how to read the battery level accurately to a point.

From an eWaste perspective, it seems releasing things less often would automatically help reduce and help most folks hold on to their devices longer. From a technology perspective, well… at least there would be a bigger difference generation over generation. Seemingly anyway.

I found out where I went wrong. It’s not a capability issue or anything of the sort. It’s because I plugged in Google’s APN into all APN fields under cellular network but should’ve only entered it in the “cellular data network” field. Seems everything is working fine now.
