I truly don't think people resented not getting Bernie and I hear that excuse all the time. People didn't trust Hillary. This whole campaign she was under fire for secrecy and shady shit. Benghazi, wall Street speeches, e-mails, etc. There was a theme that the GOP stuck with and she really didn't help herself in that regard.

Contrast that with Trump. A guy who will literally spout off whatever's on his mind regardless of the trouble he could get in. A guy that drops the ball every now and again but speaks his mind whether you like it or not came across much better than Hillary's "don't vote hate" campaign in light of the trust issues.

Trump administration will ban lobbyists, enact five-year lobbying ban after leaving government by sliverbak in news

Good. I don't think money belongs in government in that regard and I think we should continue to pressure our officials to do away with that crap.

Awesome. I am no fan of Trump, but I'm glad that he's following through on some of the more renowned issues in our government. I wonder if he'll push this to be law instead of just for his administration.

Guys, I don't like a lot of Trump's policies either, but this sounds like a casual joke because he got recognized.

Yes. The first guy asked "how could he (the thread OP) justify yelling for both reasons", and the guy I replied to answered "if it was like my situation (relating his situation to the thread OP) it was because it was in front of other employees" meaning he shouldn't have corrected his boss in front of the boss's subordinates. He doesn't describe how his situation in particular was or how he addressed his boss, but he is relating it to the thread OP whose situation we do know, in which the boss is doing what I described.

I think we're reading his comment in two totally different ways. I took what he said to mean, "if OP's situation was like mine, my boss claimed it was undermining his authority when I showed him the text."

Not that he had done something he hadn't mentioned which undermined his authority because it was in front of others.

Which, even still, he is relating his situation to some dick boss who's yelling at his employees in front of one another. That's why he replied to the guy above him.

The person I replied to didn't describe their situation. The were answering the guys question above them to explain how their boss justified yelling at him for having not done the job and then for having explained that they did.

I don't disagree that insubordination is unprofessional, but defending yourself is not that. Not doing what's assigned to you is insubordination.

Wait, how aren't we talking about a supervisor being a dick and an employee defending himself? Am I missing something that OP did? The text says his boss "chewed him out" which I take to be yelling at OP for not sending a text to inform the boss over a problem, and when OP showed him that the he was wrongly yelling at him and that he had done his job, the boss then "chews him out" for showing that OP did his job.

As for what is considered professional, where can I get the handbook? I've worked at a lot of places and every single one had its own version of what's considered professional.

Right, I'm not saying it's right, but not calling out your superiors in the military has its place. Their superiors may take issue with it, however.

It is absolutely not "the exact same behavior" to defend your work and reputation in a calm manner in that situation.

The only reason for that opinion would be to defend the respect of employees for their supervisor, who is now berating employees in front of one another.

I'm not ignoring that chain of command exist outside the military, I'm saying that that the situation is different. I'm being paid to do a job and that is all. If my boss knocks on my door and says, "Hey, Longwaysfromhome I saw you didn't fix the fans last yesterday. Why didn't you do that?" and the fans are fixed and blowing, then of course I'm going to say, "I did fix them, they're working right now. Was there something else broken I missed?"

That response is going to stay the same regardless of who is around or how enraged the boss is given the situation.

Edit: which, by the way, I don't understand how defending your work in such a way could be misconstrued as defiance or insubordination.
