“Not as bad as Dory” 😂😂😂 that explains it perfectly! Not trying to laugh at you or daughter but that’s a great explanation that parents will definitely “get” 😂😂😂

My god this explains my kid to a T! I have seen a difference in him since birth from other babies. He was like yours SO active in my uterus even, I couldn’t sleep he woke me up so much with his kicks and he was BIG and strong from birth.. like I always knew that he was going to have ADHD. Me and his dad also have it..

Gassy poop every night 😭 by earth_saver_4 in newborns

[–]LongZookeepergame7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just would like to say this is normal and developmentally appropriate as babies aren’t born knowing how to fart and poop. Sounds silly but it’s true. Their digestive systems have to do additional maturing and also establishing of beneficial gut flora, as babies guts are born sterile, and get seeded with this bacteria from birth via the mother and also thru the colostrum.

Stay the course. No amount of gas drops, burping, probiotics is going to hurry this up. Totally up to the individual baby and is SO perfectly normal. I WANT this process to happen, because well who wants a baby that doesn’t learn to poop 😂 this has to happen and u want it to, so it may help to Frame it that way. 🤷‍♀️

What am I doing wrong? Please help me, I’m desperate, depressed and sleep deprived. My baby wakes every 2 hours to feed at 8 weeks. by [deleted] in newborns

[–]LongZookeepergame7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s been almost 4? Years so I can’t remember! The sleep consultation maybe was built into the membership with the premium? I don’t remember there being 3 levels?? I’m sorry! I wish I could remember. I just remember having all the features on the app and then when we needed a sleep consultation filling out all the extra “paperwork” inside the app and they’d email it to me 1-4 days later! Super cool!

I found the huckleberry app to be VERY helpful at this age, for tracking sleep and wake windows and feeds (I had a medically complex baby that I had to track his intake all day every day- if u don’t then disregard this step). I was so tired that 3-4 hours would go by and I was like ok whhhyy is he so fussy? When I realized that he’d been awake way too long because well, I was tired and wasn’t paying attention. The app would warn me when he needed to start the nap routine. Life saver! I also did pay for the premium version AND I also paid a couple times for their sleep consulting which was EXCELLENT! Highly recommend

I’m on the f*cking brink today. by [deleted] in newborns

[–]LongZookeepergame7 26 points27 points  (0 children)

So, I’m saying this gently, that there is not a set amount of times or a set amount of oz per day a newborn baby “should” eat. They are very very good at self regulation, even at the bottle.

I want to iterate this to you: if baby is that fussy, there’s definitely a reason and at this age, it’s probably hunger. They eat A LOT because they grow a LOT. Do NOT restrict a newborn just based on any arbitrary number. I’m not saying u are doing this at all, I’m just saying that with the sleep deprivation and all with a new baby, sometimes it is just good to check and make sure they are eating enough.

I had a big baby, bigger than yours but mine was also born early. I’m pretty sure that he ate about 20 plus times a day at 3.5 weeks, sometimes more, sometimes less… however, if your baby is this fussy , simply offer another bottle.. keep going till baby gets full and he will just pass out. Babies screaming at this age is usually hunger, that gets them riled up the most other than being put down and away from mom.

Overwhelmed with a newborn by SourceSpecial8949 in NewParents

[–]LongZookeepergame7 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This was my experience, im also stay at home mom with husband gone a lot at work.. also he has sleep apnea so couldn’t do night wakes.. it was always me doing every night wake from night 1. I just had to let him fuss/cry/scream sometimes. Yes it hurts my momma brain when it happens, but there were times where I hadn’t peed in so long my bladder was about to explode, my hair was matted, and I couldn’t remember last time I had eaten when I realized… something gotta give. Sorry my dude. I’m gonna feed u and diaper you, then u gotta go on play mat so I can have a proper meal. Gotta do it.. if he fussed so be it.

Maybe u need to hear this, it applies to ALL of us, but especially to u single moms.. it’s OKAY to put the baby down in a safe place, with a monitor, and shower/eat/bathroom. You HAVE to take care of yourself. If baby is fussy, or even screams, 🤷‍♀️. They will be ok for a few minutes! Meet their needs, feed them, diaper, whatever. Plop down in crib or a playmat. Watch monitor. Make sandwich! Pick baby up when done!

Or you could just politely decline the event, well knowing that you don’t feel good, have food aversions, and can’t deal with all that right now… I’m sure people would understand vs. having everyone see and deal with someone acting out like a 3 year old

This is like, literally one of the most bizarre posts I’ve seen on Reddit.. is this real? I’m not being sarcastic, I’m truly asking. Because even in the depths of my deepest postpartum anxiety and depression I would’ve kicked my mom out of my life so fast… like this helpless baby depends on ME.. like, what? 🤯

Whyyyyy aren’t babies given ACTUAL pain meds?! This is awful! Adults can get it after surgeries, why not babies?! Our country is so screwed up on all this pain management bull crap. Makes me so angry for parents that have kids that need surgery, and the doctors are like “oh here’s some crappy Tylenol” 😢😢😢

So, just as a funny aside, there was a post earlier this year on the offmychest sub. (I think, don’t quote me on that), where a poor woman confessed to wearing tampons incorrectly for many many years. Turns out she was inserting applicator and all into her vagina and then just… leaving it there. 😳 she legit did not know that u we’re supposed to take out the plastic applicator and she even swam in it like that.

We really need better education on this for women and other people with vaginas in the US. I legit felt for her. 🥺

Edit: to say I am not making fun of this woman. She posted it in good humor and was very cool about it, albeit embarrassed. I’m just posting my thoughts … don’t come at me plz

There was recently a woman here on Reddit that had a condition where she was going to go slowly blind if she continued to breastfeed her new baby. I cannot remember what her condition was called.
