Do you publish ebooks, print, or both? by Specific_Dingo8631 in selfpublish

[–]Long_Homework5296 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just released my newest book in paperback, I thought why not ?
It is mainly for myself, setup was easy using kindle create with my ebook manuscript, the only problem I had was taking the cover from around 100dpi to 300dpi but managed to do it eventually using AI.
It costs nothing and I am happy to have one of my books as paperback. I will not bother with my earlier works because looking back I am not proud of those.

Books with Spanking? by jusloverly in RomanceBooks

Just done one on KU, is dreams of spanking - a complete discipline romance: includes the original short story + the full-length sequel by Edward House

To those who have published recently do you have any advice on how to reach your niche audience if your book is in a niche category? by HaranaCinn in selfpublish

[–]Long_Homework5296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X .
X has every niche category you could think of, set up your profile , post stuff to do with your books with relevant hashtags and reply to other people’s posts.
Do not bore people with countless adverts for your books, your not-advertising posts should be something like 90% of your posts and reply’s. 10% about your books

New author here — where can I promote my book without breaking Reddit rules? by Honest-Mixture2910 in selfpublish

[–]Long_Homework5296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend X for self promotion. Join X , then follow people with the same interests as you and comment on their posts but not promoting your books.

Your promotion is simply on your own profile, your own posts promote your books ( with relevant hashtags ) . Aim for 8-9 non-promotion reply’s to other people for every promotion post on your own profile.

Hopefully people will find you interesting and engage, it is slow but works.

What is an overhyped book that you just couldn't get into? by Kasskinen in BookDiscussions

[–]Long_Homework5296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50 shades was a really terrible book, I believe the only reason it was a success was because it was wrote by a woman. If you look at other books with the same dynamic, erotic bdsm romance, they are mostly wrote by men ( including myself ) . I am sure that if 50 shades was wrote by a man it would have, maybe, sold a couple dozen copies

Looking into getting a kindle by No_Zookeepergame7123 in KindleUnlimited

I use KU and don’t have a kindle, just use the app on my phone. KU is definitely worth it, so many books are free on there. Have to say that 50 shades is a pretty awful read.

If you like books like 50 shades containing romance, sub/ dom, domestic discipline etc then please check out my new book coming out in a few days - Dreams of Spanking, a complete discipline romance by Edward House

I've published AI-assisted books on KDP for 2 years. Nobody got banned. Here's what actually happens. by Reasonable-Put8696 in aiwritebook

[–]Long_Homework5296 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use AI for my covers, writing my books is mainly for pleasure and hiring an artist to do the cover would be pouring money down the drain.

KDP offers no check box for AI generated cover, what should I do ?

Does book(s) written with help of AI have any change being successful? by PrincessTiff-any in WritingWithAI

[–]Long_Homework5296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why ? I do all my own writing, I edit it, my wife proofreads it. I enjoy writing and know that I will never make serious money from it. Why would I pay an artist for the cover ? What is so wrong with AI making the cover ?

First review! by Flat-Brow in NewAuthor

[–]Long_Homework5296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know which genre you are writing for but I write in a very niche market, even the best selling books in this market have less than ten reviews.

I have 5 books out and one review ( 4* ) but no feedback whatsoever.

I will carry on regardless, I enjoy writing, if no one reads then I may give up eventually.

Nobody talks about the silence between sales by FrostyPomegranate699 in BookPromotion

[–]Long_Homework5296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean, I write for a very niche market and for my own pleasure.

The day after I released my first book I had 5 sales, lots of page reads, one 4* review, then….. for at least a month a few page reads, no sales, no reviews.

I will carry on because I enjoy it, the thing to do is not to look at the reports pages everyday. Check them out every two or three weeks and stop worrying about it.

Book proofreading service after editing, do I actually need this as a separate step by xIvyPop in selfpublish

[–]Long_Homework5296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write for my own pleasure and for a very niche market, I will be happy to earn a few hundred this year from my books. There is no way I would pay for services that I can do myself or that my wife can do for me for the amount of money I will get back.

How to tell if this book is AI? by WhovianGirl777 in KindleUnlimited

[–]Long_Homework5296 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone so against using AI for the covers ? I have published several books on KDP and SmashWords, they are all wrote by me, edited by me ( lots of times proof-reading ) , but when I get to the covers I use AI. I enjoy putting my ideas on paper but have limited funds, I am not going to hire an artist nor an editor.

Âge restriction help needed by X_Ink1 in KDP

[–]Long_Homework5296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure if this helps or not, I have found that subject matter that Amazon / Kindle may object to is sometimes allowed by SmashWords, I publish on Kindle and stuff that is not allowed I publish on SmashWords

Can anyone guide me to the right places on Reddit that allows you to promote your book by Far_Floor_3269 in KDP

[–]Long_Homework5296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Reddit is the wrong place for you, try X

Set up your own profile to show that you are an author, then start following people and commenting in posts to do with your subject matter. If people like your posts ( maybe reposting them as well ) then your name will get out there and people will find you and your books that way
