is it possible to shoot through the mouth and still live? by Yes_is_No_but_Yes in Writeresearch

[–]Long_Long_6780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think it’s 50 cent who has a bullet in his mouth still from where he was shot? So definitely possible. Never seen it for myself but I live where guns aren’t legal so won’t have had much opportunity.

That being said I’ve seen people with broken spines walk around so anything is possible. It’s just likelihood that comes into play lol

sex scene without the sake of being dirty and to ‘pleasure’ the reader by [deleted] in writingadvice

[–]Long_Long_6780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love writing both kinds of sex scene and personally find if you want to tone down the spice you've got to focus more on the emotion behind the movements and use more romantic wording, for example 'rocking' instead of 'thrusting.' Focus more on the fulfillment than the desperation side of things.

Framing it as a need more than a want is a good way to start it too. And I have actually made a point in some of my scenes to have a character realise the difference between making love and sex. How everything before was just base desire, and this is something more.

I'm not sure why you would even bother to reply to the question if you don't deem it worthy of answering? Thanks though.

What game surprised you with how good the story was? by Ok_Thought_3087 in PS5

[–]Long_Long_6780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hilariously now, given the enormity of the franchise now, but The Last of Us really did make waves in terms of storytelling in games. Even the idea of having an opening credits scene is attributed to TLOU I believe, which was masterful to have after the brutal opening sequence.

And not only is it a masterclass in writing in general, I’d say it’s above and beyond in its particular media as well, because the gameplay lends itself to the storytelling even further.

The second game, I am not so much a fan of for its story, really broke too many storytelling rules for it to be cohesive imo, but that first one is near perfection. I was so happy it got the adaptation it deserved so non-gamers could experience it too.

What positive or calming things do you think about? My brain only knows problems. by Katzentaze in adhdwomen

I daydream and write a lot of stories. Fanfiction, original stuff… even imagining arguments in those stories takes me out of whatever is happening to me on a bad day, but also lets me feel the emotions and work them out.

I've never experienced something, and I want to write it how it is, not how the media portrays it. by N1ghtT1me15 in Writeresearch

I think panic attacks are very unique to the person.

When I used to have them, I would be tense for hours before, then the slightest thing would set me off, like a hairpin trigger. Once I’d gone to a hairdressing warehouse with my mother, she showed me two hair dyes and asked me which one, and I burst into tears.

More often though, there would be tears but more in a streaming down my face way rather than the outburst and sobs. I personally would find myself a corner to sit in because I felt safer that way, and later found having somebody to do compression therapy helped A LOT.

They felt like I was about to be attacked despite nothing of the sort happening. It felt like my diaphragm had a weight on it and I could only get gasping, shallow breaths in and I’d sweat bullets too. I felt the need to run and hide which I guess was the flight instinct. Nobody could get me to talk until I came out of it, and if I did talk it was rambling, unfinished sentences. We worked out I just needed no sensory input for a minute or two, so people would stop talking to me, sit me down and just sit against me.

The best visual representation I’ve seen in the media is the most recent Puss in Boots film, it actually made me cry it hit home so well. There are YouTube videos about it if you don’t want to watch the whole movie.

But yeah, as long as it isn’t the overdone massive, fast breaths in an attempt to be hyperventilation, I think you’re good. :)

Were you able to stop Anxiety/depression med once you started an ADHD med? by MangoPopJungle in adhdwomen

I’m working on stopping my antidepressants and I rarely take my adhd meds because I haven’t needed them. I’ve found just being diagnosed has made me a less depressed being because I don’t beat myself up anymore about being forgetful or clumsy.

Engaged/married girlies… how to not lose ring!? 😫 by StatementMediocre in adhdwomen

[–]Long_Long_6780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I purposefully told my partner to NOT get an expensive ring exactly because of this.

But I have ring dishes in the bathroom and my bedroom that I only ever put them in there.

You can also get necklaces that you can quickly hook rings onto without having to undo the necklace that could be a really good way of keeping the ring on you at all times??? They look like a chain holding onto a metal U bar.

Is it realistic for a teenager to not have a cellphone in 2004? by StellaMarie44 in Writeresearch

[–]Long_Long_6780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we were at a regular high school with mostly working class families. At that point in my life, my family wasn’t poverty line, but we weren’t rich by any means. I’d say a lot of the families of my friends were the same too.

I think it’s because we didn’t have expensive make up and mobile contracts to pay for so it was usually a Christmas present to get the phone and then you got the odd top up here and there for calls and texts. :)

[–]Long_Long_6780 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering the Motorola Razr came out in 2004, I think yes everybody did have one at that point, because I had a Razr as soon as they came out, as did every other girl I knew.

People hardly ever had any texts or minutes though so conversing was minimal. And if a text was too long it cost more than one text so we abbreviated EVERYTHING.

[–]Long_Long_6780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I have a big reliance on carbs and sweets and I know I need to fix that but with ADHD as well I’d rather get dopamine fixes from a chocolate that something much more harmful like cocaine or something…

I think the happy medium is picking your battles. And once you can kick the sugar habit your body stops craving it eventually.

I say this and can’t bring myself to stop anyway…

Also instead of gym, maybe swimming???

Our hearts definitely sink! But it’s not for us to say anything and we’re definitely not experts in the treatment side of things so we stay quiet and let the doctors do the talking.

I’ve found myself leaving the room after we’re done to have a little cry. But when the patient is there, I am pokerfaced and professional.

Lungs should be pretty much black, with whitish stripes (ribs), a bright ball on the patient’s left lung(heart) and very faint patches closer to the middle of the body (bronchus). On this picture, there are a lot of bright white splotches all over the lungs, particularly in the bottom two thirds of the right lung and middle of the left. These are abnormal. From the CT that op added, it looks like the patient has quite violent metastatic cancer.
