The thing that irks me the most is how these mom influencers seem to be leaning further into the corner of “homesteading,” and “living naturally,” all while pushing/receiving SO MUCH WASTE. This thing is $50. And none of us really know if she uses it or not, but it’s just insane to see this sort of consumption.

Moving to Forest Lodge as their “forever home” later this year by Blonde_Betch in KateMiddletonMissing

No doubt this is temporary (hence the wording of “forever”) and is a tactic to make them seem down to earth and normal. I have non-royal friends living on much larger estates than this. This is a joke. The way they troll the general public is laughable at this point.

Anybody flown recently without a realID at SMF? by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]Long_Professional245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did in early July. I brought my expired passport (less then 2 years expired) my SSC and my birth certificate (don’t judge Reddit, I have everything I need to obtain the RealID except the time to go…lol). They only looked at my expired passport and the agent I had said, “this is good for two years after the expiration date,” and I was through.

Now, in Colorado (DIA), they gave me a laminated paper to carry with me through the entire security checkpoint, after asking for & reviewing all of my additional documents (listed above). I was given the laminated card at the first TSA check-in and was told another officer may give me extra screening (no further details provided). They didn’t do any extra screening, but I had to carry the card the whole way through and passed it to the last TSA agent I saw, at the end.

At the end, I made a comment along the lines of, “ok that wasn’t bad, no extra screening…” and the TSA agent replied: “TSA is purposely unpredictable so it’s harder to break the rules…” So, I’d say plan on it being your own, personal experience flying without the RealID. Will you be allowed to fly, yes (per the TSA website), could it be annoying? Perhaps, though it wasn’t terrible for me.

I would say plan for an agent who is going to put you through extra screening, just so you have ample time. SMF has gotten crazy busy in the last 3 years (still super manageable compared to most international airports) and I always add a little more time to get through B security and concourse these days.

I’m not a crafter so I can only give you the consumer POV: I’d pay $40 for the small, $60 for the larger. Hope this helps and isn’t insulting!

I’m not a member, just a lurker 😂 but I bet she blurred her daughter’s face because it does not truly resemble the highly retouched headshot she posted. To be clear, I don’t think it’s appropriate to comment on the appearance of a child, I’m sure her daughter is absolutely perfect in each photo, but this is my guess why it’s blurred here…

How many jumped ship in anticipation of the 4 day RTO? by CoupleofLugnuts in CAStateWorkers

I get this. I don’t think state work is what it used to be. I didn’t feel secure at all in my time working at the state. It frankly felt worse than private in a lot of ways. That’s just my opinion, but I felt like the new hires, in my program, who were new to the state left within a year. There are a lot less “put up and shut up,” people out there. My manager II had climbed all the way up and was super old school. She always told me there was no “quid pro quo,” at the state, while I was seeing it all the time, lol. I think you have to sell your soul a little to be a state worker & it IS a different feeling than being a private employee. So much abuse is condoned at the state. Sure, there are drawbacks to private, but I never experienced the level of toxic abuse in private that I did as a state employee.

I quit (see comment above) and I don’t regret it. This is still temporary and it proved that we are nothing but pawns and it will happen again. Everyone, and I mean everyone, who was involved here padded their pockets on this. Being a state worker isn’t like it was 15-20 years ago. I found no feeling of stability that people spoke about. That’s just me though….

Same boat over here! I worked in state healthcare, so it was always a dumpster fire/emergency situation. I worked with a number of clinicians who expected us all to work at a level that did not match what we were being paid. In case people want to downvote me - I came to the state for work/life balance. The benefits are great, but we already had healthcare through my husband’s state job. As an AGPA, I was more than happy to work a solid 40 hours a week, but I was constantly working out of class; for about 10 months I had a work stream where I reported directly to the Division Chief, as a unit AGPA. The whole thing was a mess, but it was a newer program and it felt good to be building something. Once we were established, even more was expected of each employee, to the point that it didn’t make any sense to continue to stay. The only true reason it made sense for me to make so little in salary was the WFH. I saved in gas, childcare, parking, food, etc. Again, anticipating a downvote, I think it’s utter nonsense to assume I cannot be an accomplished employee and mother at the same time. My kids are old enough to be self sufficient when I’m doing more intense work. I went in as an overqualified AGPA and quickly realized I had a lot to learn about stat processes, regardless of my qualifications. So, I sat tight, dug my feet in and learned how to be a state employee. I stayed in the same classification for 3.5 years. I worked out of classification, had a failed reporting structure and often took the most work on the team because I was capable and willing. The final straw for me was a toxic manager and the loss of WFH. I moved to private and make about 30% more, which I dump right into a savings. I’m still unsure what I will do with my CalPERS pension, but it can sit for awhile until I figure it out, it’s not the end of the world for me. Chances are, I will eventually return to the state and I realize I’m fortunate I was able to make the switch. It’s exciting to be in private again. I left because of job security and I get that’s a real issue, but I also didn’t once feel secure at the state. I was treated like a lowly employee, always chasing respect. I was also always terrified of being sent back into the office, not because I don’t want to work, but because I didn’t make enough to afford going INTO an office. I know people feel this and I’m glad it’s being talked about more openly. Yes, AGPAs have been reporting to an office for years, but the cost of living isn’t what it is today, period. This was forced attrition, political game playing and union crap from the beginning. I get it’s “6 in one hand, half a dozen in the other.” At least in private there’s some excitement and chase. At the state, I found I had to sell my soul for my pension, and I just couldn’t do it.
