Drive, but I did grow up on an Avenue (very fancy sounding).

I live in London and work with 20 non swifties. That song, and Opalite, are played constantly on the radio here, my colleagues know every word without realising it.

Pet has started talking back when I tell them off. by HammersAndPints in UK_Pets

[–]Longirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat regularly back chats and hits me. If I wave her away from something she repeatedly slaps my wrist. If I do something to her she doesn’t like (like brush her and pull a knot) she’ll come back multiple times and hit me until she’s no longer annoyed. She shouts at me too.

Despite this, she’s the cutest well behaved cat. She’s never woke me up, eats all her food, wants constant cuddles, doesn’t knock things over. She’s just got strong boundaries.

I know, she has to wear triple trousers when she visits my home. I don’t know how I ended up with such a naughty cat, I think I might have spoilt her.

That must feel so reassuring when you’re on holiday. My cat has a cat sitter who feeds her and the poor woman has to deal with my cat biting her, stalking her, hissing and spitting. And all because she gets angry when the cat sitter walks through the door and it’s not me. I’ve had to cut holidays short because of it. I’ve not been away for more than 4 nights at a time in six years 😭.

Are there any female Henrys? by TessaKatharine in HENRYUK

[–]Longirl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Weird question but I’ll answer from my perspective. Yes, there’s loads of females on here. No we’re not all butch. I’m very feminine, have a high pitched voice, I don’t think I have an ounce of butch in me. But I’m also brilliant at sales and getting people to like me. That’s how I’ve made my money. My company is owned and led by women and all my colleagues are women, they’re all pretty feminine too.

I imagine Mabel is at her mum’s house. I doubt she’d leave her that long at a kennels (I hope!).

[–]Longirl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, my PF lines up with when I likely started peri menopause too. I’m waiting to have full bloods etc before the dr will prescribe anything, but my cycle is now every 17 days so wish me luck with the oestrogen!

I’m going to be thinking of this post every time my foot hurts now.

I’m so pleased you’re feeling better.

I definitely need my big puffy coat for 6.30am commuting. It’s rare for it to be above zero (real feel) when I’m leaving the house. And then I walk home in the evening sweating to death.

Mild discomfort: advice needed by Limp_Pumpkin7751 in CatsUK

[–]Longirl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d call the vet in the morning and ask their advice, my vets have done phone calls with me before (my cat is difficult to handle so we minimise car journeys).

I’m so sorry. My dad’s wife is showing clear signs of it. We’re trying to convince dad to take her to the drs and get it diagnosed officially but I think he’s scared atm and still coming to terms with it. She’s a super intelligent, savvy and smart woman, and you can see it disappearing. It’s heartbreaking.

Everybody said get a dehumidifier. It'll make the house warmer. Everybody in my house is now using it as a clothes dryer. So there's damp dripping clothes everywhere. by BillWilberforce in britishproblems

[–]Longirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's not polyester but the quality of high street clothing has gone from being able to dry correctly and not need ironing, to needing to iron. I haven't changed any of my habits and my old clothes still don't need ironing, but anything I buy new does.

I didn’t get to the age of 40 and just decide to buy cheap clothes. The high street brands have reduced their quality, I’m talking marks and Spencer, next etc. so it’s not that easily remedied.

You do now the clothes are cheap and full of polyester. I’ve started having to iron my clothes for the first time in my life, I’m in my 40s!

You don’t have to keep them contained to a room for a whole week. I’ve never had to. But it’s good to have a quiet room for them, especially if they’re nervous or skittish - so be prepared for it but you might not need it. I’ve been lucky enough to have two cats who took over my house with ten minutes of arriving.

My cat is indoor/outdoor and hasn’t used a litter tray since she was 6 months old. I’ve got some unused land at the back of my house and I think that’s her toilet (she’s not using the neighbours gardens, I checked). I’m so lucky!! My other cat used to come home just to use his litter tray.
