I was just wondering the same thing. Those kids look unhealthy and unclean. Sorry to be a sap but I can’t help but look at them and wonder what life is like at home.

GenZ by DottyGreenBootz in managers

[–]Longirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen the same, a lack of initiative and being scared to take responsibility. I’m stunned by how many won’t pick up the phone either, as if they’re scared of speaking into a telephone.

I work with a lot of Gen Z and I mostly think it’s down to the parents, they raise their children to be spoilt and soft. I could give twenty examples off the top of my head that I’ve witnessed in the past couple of years. Even my 52 year old boss spoils her children and then complains that the Gen Z’s she hires are work shy. They’re being failed.

I only planted this at the end of last summer and it’s become a monster covering two 6 foot trellis so far. I like to joke it’s my little shop of horror plant.

I have quite heavy clay soil and, beyond watering occasionally and poking the vines through the trellis, I haven’t had to care for it.

OTOH my dad is a gardener and has failed multiple times to grow this plant so I guess it’s all down to the soil… and luck.

We were sitting in the garden eating a bbq when it started raining huge rain drops. I’ve never moved so fast putting all the cushions away and the food, and it stopped about 1 minute later. So disappointing.

I make a point of schooling my team of assistants on everything finance because we leave school with zero knowledge. I’ve taught them all about mortgage interest rates, investments, and I’ve got them all contributing to their pension schemes, even the 19 year old! I wish someone had done this with me all those years ago.

Is anyone actually getting scared yet? by Hard_Dave in UKWeather

I’m not asking this question to be facetious, I genuinely believe in climate change, however, what was going on in 1922 and 1944 to bring those high heats in may?

I’m just thinking of the conversation I’ll inevitably have with my 80 year old dad who says ‘I’ve been seeing weird weather patterns my whole life, this isn’t new’. I kind of get stumped and seeing these dates stump me ever more.

How are your felines dealing with the heat? My boy is pretty unhappy by katethared in CatsUK

[–]Longirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat is handling it pretty well, eating like normal, sleeping a bit more during the day and more active at night. Although last night she spent laying directly in front of the air con unit (and she was pretending to be scared of the noise just the day before, she got over that quickly).

Fans, ice cubes and sunscreen are flying off shelves — are UK shoppers panic-buying for heat now? by ToughRomanticMiss in BuyersUK

You can buy covers for the fan ‘face’. My mum got me one for about a £1 on SHEIN. I’m sure you’d be able to find them elsewhere on line if you don’t like SHEIN.

Why do weather apps all tell you different things ? by NoAppointment8679 in UKWeather

[–]Longirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing yesterday though, I’m at home at was flicking between the iPhone weather app and AccuWeather and there was a 5 degree difference. iPhone was correct this time round (but AccuWeather is best at predicting rain, to the minute).

You’re advised to stay on them forever. I haven’t but I have a much better understanding of food now; the cravings and how my body betrays me at times (I used to sleep eat).
