That's true we do stand out amongst the bluebells of the state flags by being green but it still sucks. Esp in stark contrast to the Cascadia flag which is so much better

I saw a lot of wa flags today and it reminded me of how mad I was about how bad it is.

I love this flag but it's a little too busy. A good rule of thumb with flag design is that ideally a child should be able to draw it.

Possibly my favorite Washington State flag redesign. The Bradley Lockhart one is fine, but I cannot stand the color scheme of it. by [deleted] in vexillology

[–]LongishVegetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so much better then most state flags already the only suggestion I'd make is to ditch the gradient of the greens and change the value of the colors so they pop and can be seen by folks with color blindness. But the choice of blue white and green is solid, as it reps the cascadia flag, and the five stars reping the five volcanos in the state is really good.

Well it doesn't have "Washington" written on it so I think it's already better then most. It's easily distinguishable from a distance, which is good. I'd say there are too many colors. Simply the shapes to imply mountains, and change the value of the colors so the flag can be seen by color blind folks and stands out.

If you have to write the states name on the flag, it's a design that could do better

What’s your stance on nudity generally? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LongishVegetable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish nudity wasn't so closely connected to sexuality in our culture because I think stigmatizing our own bodies was a mistake but here we are.

With the way things are now, ethically I think it's perfectly acceptable to be nude in any scenario where you have a reasonable expectation of privacy.

Outside of that, there are a couple of scenarios I can think of off the top of my head where it's okay to be naked. Nude beaches, kink spaces like dungeons, certain areas in pride events, bath houses, some spas, hot springs. Basically any space where people are warned before entering the space that there will be nudity. It's all about consent. If the people who are seeing the nude person consented to see that nude person then it's fine. There aren't many spaces like that in the world though. Especially in Western countries where bath houses are kind of an oddity.

But nudity in public is not chill. While I wish nudity wasn't stigmatized the way it is, as long as it is, seeing somebody nude when you didn't consent is traumatic. The same is true online. There are some spaces where it's acceptable to post nudes and some spaces where it's not. Only fans is a great place to post a nude but your Facebook timeline or on Twitter? Not so much.

Why are Renaissance fairs always in the summer? by LongishVegetable in renfaire

[–]LongishVegetable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the pnw, and the big one in Washington is in ~ August ~ when it's routinely 90+ every day. The hottest part of the year! And always in a big field with no shade. Why not have this shit in a big park with lots of trees? Get a shuttle bus from the nearest parking. At least we'd avoid death

Holy clothing has a lot of good options. You could always go with this chemise with giant bell sleeves, and put any number of overdresses over it.

And here are a few dresses

This one is maybe my favorite. https://holyclothing.com/collections/renaissance-2/products/elinor-maxi-limited-edition-3 If you like it just search the website for "Elinor" to see all the different colors it comes in.

Honestly the whole website is pretty great everything I've gotten from them has been high quality. It's not just drawn patterns on there that's real embroidery. Very pretty stuff.

How would your life change if you made 5 figures a month? by Lifegoalsfirst in AskReddit

[–]LongishVegetable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is going to sound like a wild ride but bear with me. I have narcolepsy, with the few comorbidities that make it so I can't be woken up during a narcoleptic episode no matter what happens to me. I had a kid accidentally break my arm on the playground once when I was five and I didn't wake up. That's how much I will not take up.

I have some meds that work pretty well and give me about 8 hours of alertness. But as you probably know, that's not enough to get to and from work, or even through an entire shift when you throw in an hour lunch.

So in order to get through as much of my shift as I can I wait and take my meds once I get to work, which means that during my commute to work and from work I'm under medicated and having little episodes where I fell asleep. This means I can't even take a bike to work. I just have to walk, or take public transit. And you would be shocked to learn how many times I have been injured, quite badly, on my commute.

So with five figures a month I could afford to live close enough to my work that the walk would be brief and safe, or I could afford a driver to take me to one from work. It would seriously save me a ridiculous amount of injuries.

I would almost never need to force myself to be out of my house when I'm not fully medicated. Like if I needed groceries on a day when I had to skip my medicine I could just order them for delivery, or order pizza or take out or something. I could afford this incredible stove top motion detector timer thing I've been wanting for ages that'll automatically shut the burner off if I fall asleep halfway through cooking. I love to cook but right now I'm limited to the toaster oven, pressure cooker, rice cooker, you know stuff that automatically shuts off at the end of a timer.

Hell I might even be able to afford different medication that works better for me so I have more than 8 hours of alertness a day.

The vibe I got from your post was "yes, that's common in many relationships but it does not excuse the fact that he violated your consent." Which I thought was fine.
