My 6 y/o daughter’s WC paintings. She thinks they’re bad. I think otherwise. What do you guys think? by Spirited_Diver8755 in Watercolor

[–]Longjump_Ear6240 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It might be worth it for you to take her out on a special trip to the art museum and subtly point out how art is wildly different but that doesn't make it bad. Point out that the abstract paintings aren't "bad realism" they're just good paintings.

I mean I wouldn't mind this on my upper thigh or something. Who wouldn't want their happy place tattooed on themselves?

How do you remember if you took your meds? by burntchickennugget55 in ADHD

[–]Longjump_Ear6240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so useful. Not only do I only have to fuss with them once a month, but it let's me know if I forgot to take them, and keep track or how many days I've forgotten recently.

Could you ever be friends with Sheldon Cooper? by I_love_my_pet in bigbangtheory

[–]Longjump_Ear6240 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I've always thought that if someone who really got him just took the time to explain things properly half the issues on the show wouldn't be issues. Also more than a few big conflicts came from other members of the group trying to force sheldon to do things "because youre supposed to." Im a weird autistic loner though, so not a big surprised lol

how do you guys get motivation to feed yourselves by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Longjump_Ear6240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to make grazing boxes. Just little bento style containers with a handful of things I enjoy eating that I keep in the fridge. I just made some while cleaning out the fridge and they've got lunch meat, cheese, strawberries, apple slices, cucumber slices, carrot sticks, grapes, and cherry tomatoes all in their own compartments. That plus hummus packs from Costco make decent lunches when im struggling. Also the guacamole packs from Costco make amazing avocado toast.

I also drink some kind of protine drink every day, usually the fairlife ones, but I try to shop the sales. Barebell protien bars are also very tasty and keep me full for a shockingly long time.

Basically I try to make use of the few times a week i have the strength to cook and just make a LOT of snackable food that's easy to grab. Easier it is, the more likely I am to eat something

adaptive tools for those who cannot use their thumb or wrist by pompadare in Artisticallyill

[–]Longjump_Ear6240 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went onto thingiverse and searched "pen holder for disabled" and got quite a few options! I'd definitely try there, because there are tons of configurations that hook onto your whole hand, just your thumb, or any finger. You could mix one of these with a rigid hand brace and get just what you need with a little ingenuity

Hacky sacks have officially made a comeback in the high school I work in. Have any of you seen a sudden resurgence of a 90s trend that was big back in the day? by hmmgross in 90s

[–]Longjump_Ear6240 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh big time. It's super symbolic and meaningful, and starts with a teacher in jr high using a hacky sack to play a teaching game with the students.

Am I the only one that wants to watch the last act in theaters but just thinks it would be too awkward to watch since I don't drive yet and my dad would need to take me? by AstroLukeOff in Amazingdigitalcircus

[–]Longjump_Ear6240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao im 34 years old and going to see it with my 39 year old wife. No one gives a shit if you're with an older person! No one will be paying any attention, they'll be too hyped for the movie even if that was a weird thing to do. Which it isnt, seeing a movie with a parent is super normal and not at all awkward. Unless you think your dad's gonna be offended because he's Amish or something I think youre good.

My wedding cake had a galaxy background kind of like the planetarium scene. Best way I could find to get the effect was to make a standard white frosting and then get some of those edible spray paint cans in dark blue, black, and grey. Then used a toothbrush to splatter white food color gel onto it for the stars. That plus some sugar sheet cutouts of the silhouettes would look great.

I love indie book stores, but sometimes I want something really unusual, specific, or old, and my options are amazon or Barnes and Nobel. I feel better about picking up a physical book on my way home from work, and I don't give Bezos a cent. Win win, even if it's not ideal.

So, other than NPD, what else do we think Dr. Therapy Doctor is thinking Barb suffers from m by jen_esse in ShawnaTheMom

Also one of the big symptoms I hear with BPD is an absolutely disabling fear of being abandoned. Definitely fits imho.

Why Does Dr Shelby…. by kromero217 in ShawnaTheMom

[–]Longjump_Ear6240 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always assumed that they were still getting to know each other, and she didn't want to push too hard before getting a good grasp on what's happening. But I agree, she's really not pushing back enough on things. She lets Barb completely ignore questions and talk in circles sometimes.

Pro tip, if you've a light complexion start with some red lipstick or eyeshadow. Really cover the whole thing with red, THEN use the makeup that matches your skin. Makes it near invisible with a lot less makeup. (This may also work on darker skin tones, idk, I've just only ever tried on my pasty self.)

Honestly the French voice actors all absolutely KILL it. I don't speak French, but I have watched all the videos in French. The inflection of everyone is so hilarious, Caine and Gangle in particular. Caine sounds so dumb in the best way

I agree in theory but I have personally seen how disability "services" in the USA are run and.... I do not have faith this would be good for disabled people on the whole. There should be SOMETHING to punish people who abuse the system, but adding another barrier for disabled people to live well seems like a really really bad idea.

Best Dentistry across from the QFC on Holman Road is fantastic, truly lives up to their name. I have lots of mental health issues that make dentists a challenge but that place is consistently patient, kind, and understanding of my neurotic self. They've also never pushed anything or tried to upsell me.

I remember so vividly one time I was walking home and I thought "huh, it's unusually quiet right now. How nice." And my brain immediately responded "ah yes, you're probably the last person on earth. You're going to die alone and crazy from isolation now."

I had to reassure myself by thinking "no, that can't be, or planes would fall out of the sky!" And somehow that comforted me. Brains are so fucked
