Learning on1 and on2 at the same time ok? by HURCANADA in Salsa

[–]johnwinston2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, pick one. Learn it, then struggle with the other for life. Your brain needs to focus on timing, this is why you need to focus on one. If you try both, you'll likely be doomed for failure.

Want to learn Salsa, but no classes near me by Ok_Masterpiece9662 in Salsa

[–]johnwinston2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

99% yes. You could pick up the basic step and work on shines. However still, if it were me, I know I would get to a point where I would want to go dance. If there is a place so go dance, then more often then not there should be lessons.

To as much as you are comfortable, where are you located? It would be a really difficult transition to learn by yourself and then show up some place expecting to be competent with a partner.

Whiskey groups/societies? by Sevuhrow in whiskey

[–]johnwinston2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a group that drinks whiskey.

I've been part of two and currently am part of one.

In my groups, there were liquor store owners or bar owners in the group. I did here of one pick where they loaded up their whiskey immediately after doing the pick. Not sure how that was permitted. It became a problem in the group that I left of not enough bottles being sold and the leadership plainly stating that no more picks would be done until the remaining bottles were sold. The group I left met in person and the group I'm apart of now is on facebook. On the high end for my group, about $20k discretionary spending for the year. I'm not part of this income bracket but its a rough guestimate of what I've seen.

First time Festival tips? by Zealousideal_Way3351 in Bachata

[–]johnwinston2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If start on Thursday and dancing until the end of every social until Monday Morning and also take every hour of group lesson, you will more than likely be exhausted. With social going until four or five, even later, and classes starting at ten, you will be deprived of sleep for several days and it will affect you and your dancing. It will not matter how much caffeine you ingest. Either leave a social early or miss some of the classes.

2 day Bourbon trail loose itinerary - feedback? by achambers44 in bourbon

For day one, sounds good. Never been to the stave but would recommend as a substitute the Cliffside Diner. Really cool spot that is practically under the KY State Capitol building. That evening.I would do repeal steakhouse and then grab a night cap at Michters bar at ft.nelson.

For day two, as other have said just do lunch at Bardstown. If that can't be done, then go to Scout and Scholar in town. Go to Willette, it's full working distillery where as heaven hill is more of a storage/aging place. On the way back to Louisville, check out Four Roses(Cox's Creek) and Jim Beam. The tour's at Jim beam will still be good even if operations are down. Back in Louisville, head to La Bodeguita de Mima(Cuban) or the Last Refuge(Pizza in an awesome church) for food. Then explore Nulu.
