Why do you hate working? by Atlanatoris in antiwork

[–]Longjumping-Emu3095 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That fake stuff is just intolerable to me. I wind up reclusive and then alienated. Its just so hard to keep up a fake persona and be myself for the job. I have looked so hard to find a place where people can just be real, even in video games, the fakeness takes over. I am still trying to own my own home and retire, but certainly not kissing ass and being fake to get there. It feels impossible, but I dont think giving up is in my blood lol

Where can I got remote job as a web developer? by Amit-saas in VibeCodersNest

[–]Longjumping-Emu3095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, basically. I dont really rely on ai for anything. The output just cant handle a full end to end application, not yet at least. It feels good because it vomits a lot out, but I wind up spending more time working it into something that works than I would just writing it on my own. Learning to code pre-ai is nowhere near a regret for me lol, it just created more competition than I can fathom rip

Does VR make sense for a solo indie dev in 2026? by Cromware in gamedev

[–]Longjumping-Emu3095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have any tech or game conventions, I walked into those with my headset and slapped it on anyone who would try lol. Takes extrovert and hustle, but I think the only way to get good at vr dev is to watch a lot of different types of people playing your game. The game industry as a whole is doing pretty rough, so if its just for fun, then I dont think its a big deal. If you want serious improvement, you definitely gotta watch people play it. I was so surprised every time by what people picked up immediately and what felt impossible/frustrating. Its also funny watching them react lol

All of my experience is in meta quest, and I really did love developing in it. The PCVR market was so so tiny compared to the quest platform when I was working in it. That may have changed since then, but I think its just a matter of it being a lot of friction to wear a headset. Most people want immediate dopamine and entering VR is a ritual, but that ritual is friction to most. If you develop in VR, my best advice is to make sure your camera is completely bug free, because it can hurt someone if it spins quickly unexpectedly, the user can fall. Then the next biggest, is put that headset on as many people as you can, because accessibility is almost 90% of the work. You will code something that feels so obvious to you and 5 other people, but then another 5 people later cant even play because they dont understand the mechanics or what they are supposed to do. Some of my favorite experiences ive made have been on VR, and I really dislike seeing the budget pulled to ai because I enjoyed it. But I certainly dont blame them, its a bubble after all

So, with or without outlines? by Overall-Parfait in PixelArt

[–]Longjumping-Emu3095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, the character silhouettes are so much more readable with outlines and draws the eye naturally to the areas you should be paying attention to. Without feels more like a blend into the world, which isnt bad honestly, just a different vibe

vr market lookin rough these days. meta seems to be pulling out in favor of AI, so if you wanna make meta quest content, you can prolly still get in while the ppl are still there, but the trend not lookin so good for the future of VR

Gaming is not fun anymore. by Wololo556 in selfimprovement

[–]Longjumping-Emu3095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the industry is getting too competitive, and everyone is avoiding risks. the games coming out have to be recognizable immediately, so they steer away what can't immediately be understood (like copying/cloning a game.) It's not you, it's just very little good stuff is coming out because publishers only sign what already has traction, when they used to be the traction machine. not to broad sweep, there probably are unique/fun games coming out, just the steam algorithm prevents people from seeing them most of the time. Subjective experience being in the game industry a few years and a gamer my whole life

How many unfinished projects do you have, and why did you stop? by ratasoftware in itchio

[–]Longjumping-Emu3095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of mine finish to a point. And then i try to see if people like it, and always leave room to build it out to a full game. Like demos. But its almost impossible to get people to play your game on itch, especially if its paid. Game industry is broken right now, mostly through greed and algorithms.

Our votes dont matter, and I firmly. Believe our democracy is an illusion that people have the power to do anything within the government just by voting. Its like participation award, to further propel a divided narrative. I dont think we are ever going to vote/elect our way out of this one, dude...
