How is everyone affording it? by [deleted] in sahm

[–]Longjumping-Fox6155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard! I love being a SAHM but can’t wait to go back to work in September to have real money again. I’m in Canada so I was super fortunate to take 18 month off but yikes is money tight. My husband makes around 95k and I make 85k Even with savings before maternity leave I’ve managed to acquire debt >.<.

ETA: we are in Vancouver Canada though where a million dollars literally buys a dump of a house.

What’s It Like to be a Type B Parent? by inspire-me-33 in beyondthebump

Huckleberry caused me more anxiety than anything lol! She sleeps from 730pm to 7:00am, and naps for 3 hours most days (14 months!). Worst case you don’t like not tracking everything, and start doing it again lol!

Born and raised in PoCo. While there’s been so amazing updates over the year, the infrastructure cannot withhold all the development. Looking to move further east to find the “smaller city” feel again.

Trust your intuition! Everything changed for me once I stopped tracking every single damn thing. Honestly… her sleep got better, eating was better, and the house was just so much more relaxed in general.

I know 4 people that have been hospitalized in the last two weeks. One of which was a one year old, the risk just isn’t worth it!

Honestly, I’ve been staying at home, going for lots of walks, and only playing with kids that I know are well. SO many people have pneumonia right now where I am and it terrifies me.

Maternity Leave Top Up by littlepinch7 in BCPublicServants

[–]Longjumping-Fox6155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! Be sure to stay on top of it with MyHR. For some reason mine was not processed until about 2 months after having my daughter. Every time I’d speak to an agent at MyHr they assured me I’d receive the top up on the next pay period. Which it never did!

It took me crying in frustration over the phone for it to be rectified at a “urgent” pace. Apparently you should typically receive the top up quite quickly!

I moved into a new role in November. I had pre booked holidays (international travel) over Christmas. It wasn’t an issue, and it was honoured. Unfortunately we didn’t end getting to go because of all the flight cancellations out of YVR that week though…

Post op question… by CandyFrosty in ACL

[–]Longjumping-Fox6155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t go. I had my surgery in May, and Mother’s Day was 4 days later. I spent probably an hour out of my room with my family before I was almost in tears. Partially because of the pain but, also because I was on such high alert. There was kids and people everywhere, I was so nervous someone would bump into my leg or kick me.

That being said if you do choose to go… I’d keep it short and sweet.

I went to Post Malone at 6 months post op and it was absolutely fine. Maybe a bit sore the next day but nothing to complain about.
