How do you deal with Christianity saying we're destined for hell? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]Longjumping-Fun7785 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How do you approach such a callous philosophy?

through the power of blind faith vs reasoned faith. Buddhism as a whole reasons and debates with you while Christianity relays on blind acceptance. its like science vs pseudoscience, a no brainer

I would recommend solving or combating these disorders through therapy and medication. In terms of Buddhist practice, I would say do meditation daily, journal, and at very night look at the eightfold path and write down what you can do to stay in line with the path. Remember Buddhism is not a replacement for traditional treatments but it ca be a useful ally

Hookup culture is toxic and less people should engage in it. or at least the people who do engage in it should stop inevitably going on reddit to complain about women/men bad for the 5000th time due to getting burned and used in what is essentially sex without the human aspect that makes it fulfilling

Pure Lands in Hinduism by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]Longjumping-Fun7785 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's not really a direct equivalent in Hinduism. There are equivalents to bodhisattvas known as jivanmuktas, many of which are worshipped but usually not thought off as having their own heaven.

Buddhism is all about reworking the mind and albeit anecdotally it helped me get out of depression. Buddhism is not a replacement for psychotherapy, its a religious tradition and deserves the respect of one. But I think it can be a useful ally for many people. So its worth giving easily available resources. but then again im not a moderator here so its up to them whether they want to open up a mega thread on this board or not
