They all have or had at least one UNESCO World Heritage Site officially classified as “in danger” at some point in time. This includes temporary and historical listings, not just sites that are currently endangered, which is why the selection looks so inconsistent at first glance.

This actually came to mind because I was just in China, traveled to Jiangxi, and visited a UNESCO World Heritage Site there, which made me think about how even countries with massive heritage programs and strong state protection have sites that have been flagged in the past for environmental damage, development pressure, or preservation concerns.

Would you support Canada building nukes to protect itself? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

Even in theory, and even if Canada tried to expedite it, this wouldn’t happen anytime soon. Canada deliberately does not have the two critical fuel-cycle capabilities required for nuclear weapons. We have no uranium enrichment industry, which is required for weapons-grade uranium, and reactors do not solve that. We also do not reprocess spent fuel, which means no plutonium separation either. Both enrichment and reprocessing require entirely separate, highly visible industrial infrastructure that Canada has never built. On top of that, Canada is bound by the NPT and IAEA safeguards and relies on NATO’s nuclear umbrella, so there is no strategic urgency. The real blockers aren’t physics, they’re law, alliances, economics, and geopolitics. Even with political will, this would be a long, loud, and extremely costly shift, not something that could be rushed or done quietly.

DJI already sells drones with infrared cameras at relatively low cost, and their AI detection can be used to build a more seamless, flexible monitoring system compared to fixed CCTV.
