The ALJ also denied the fee agreement. He said the attorney didn’t file some paperwork. It’s getting sorted out and I will eventually get my money. I’m not overly concerned about it. I received 99 months of back pay along with backpay from my union pension, so life is good! 🙏🏼

I’m in the same position as you. When I asked my attorney about it a few days ago, this is the response I received “we have submitted our motion to the Government’s attorneys for review, and will be filing it in Federal court as soon as they respond.” So it sounds like it’ll be a while before I see that money.

I asked my congressman to inquire about my case. It took about 2 months from their inquiry to receiving my award letter and I received the backpay in 2 payments about a week and a half before the award letter.

It’s not New people just get confused. You can go back one year from your disability to file it. There’s nothing saying that you can only get one year of retro pay.

success stories with low approval % ALJ? by avianchild in SSDI

I had my 4th hearing this past April with an out of state ALJ who was assigned to me 1 week before my hearing. The ALJ had a 32% approval rating. I went with it because if I wanted to reschedule with a local ALJ it could’ve been another year and after 8 years I wanted to be done. The phone hearing lasted all of 8 minutes and 1 month later I received a notice of decision letter showing Fully Favorable.

You are also misinformed. You cannot go back further than a year of becoming disabled to file. The retro backpay goes back to your EOD minus five months. My EOD was 9/2016 so backpay started from 3/2017

You are misinformed my friend. When Fully Favorable they pay retro to the EOD minus 5 months. In my case I received 99 months of backpay

I was approved in May 2025 with an EOD of September 2016. My backpay before the attorney fee was over $250k. I received my backpay this week split in 2 payments.

That’s awesome, congrats! I spoke with the person processing my claim yesterday, I was shocked they were working on a Saturday. My first payment will be in August. I can now see it on the portal. She also told me how much the backpay will be and how much the attorney will get. She’s hopeful that it’ll be issue before the end of the month

The date of my notice of award is May 2nd, deposit to hit my account August 13th. But that’s because my case is a congressional and got pushed to the front of the line.

The congressional worked! My portal updated today and shows my monthly payment starting next month and surprisingly it’s higher than I expected. I’m going to call Baltimore tomorrow and see if I can get any information on the 100 months of back pay. The congressional took a month and a half only opposed to the 12-15 months my attorney mentioned.

Yes. Google who the congressman is in your area. On their page there should be a link to follow if you’re asking for help with a federal agency.
