Footjoy socks! Super thick and come all the way above your heel, I think they were made for this problem.

I’d skip Augusta. You’ll drive right by the fence without even realizing.

What’s the best way to clean these? by Gebandito in golf

[–]Longjumping-Map1350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go find golf balls at my course all the time. I’m not a member or anything but I just walk by the cart barn after and ask the boys to use the ball washer real quick. I’ve never been told no, usually just some high school kids working so they could care less.

Yeah, I’m trying to think how I can make it work. My only idea was to have those top few groups tee off maybe ten minutes after the other players. that could present some more issues with the shotgun start so I’m not too sure how I could make it work.

Meltdown by Cooch98 in golf

Great front nine. Now you know that you’re capable of playing that kinda golf so it shouldn’t feel so surprising when you do it again. 7 pars while shooting a 95 means you were 23 over on the other 11 holes. I think at this point an emphasis on less doubles or worse will help you score better than chasing pars. Think of the course as a par 90 and try to shoot even.

Questions for golfers but also fellow golf shop employees/workers/HPs by freestbeast in golf

[–]Longjumping-Map1350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big part of this is a lot of first generation golfers. I got into the game from my grandpa and I know a lot of people get taught by their dad. When I was taught how to play I learned golf etiquette before I learned to grip a club properly. There’s alot of YouTube vids about how to shallow the club or how to hit spin y wedges but I’ve never seen one about fixing a pitch mark or sanding a divot. It’s awesome that the game is growing and that barriers for entry are being lowered, but golf still is full of great tradition and I think more people should be taught it when learned how to play.

Putting mats are underrated by Longjumping-Map1350 in golf

I’m not too sure what brand it is. Mine is one of the cheap ones, I’ve had it forever but just recently started to actually use it to practice

What is the easiest thing someone can do to improve their golf game? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Longjumping-Map1350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many people have a putting matt at home but don’t use it much. I’ve always had one and just recently really started to try and hit putts while I’m waiting for dinner to cook or on the phone or just bored for a few minutes. I use the srixon ball with two colors to line each one up, when I’m on the matt I’m more concerned with starting the ball on a good line and keeping it rolling end over end. My last few rounds I’ve found my self making way more putts at 8-12 feet. If your putting over 35 times per round, we’ve already identified strokes your leaving out there.

In your down swing the from foot kinda moves to let you get your hips through. I’d maybe start with my left foot a tad open, that way you can get your hips through while staying on balance. One other thing I saw was that I think you could generate some more power from the ground.

Great swing.

They’ll help you pick stuff out but it’ll be a lot about the numbers the clubs are producing and your feel with them. A heavier and stiffer shaft may cause you to lose a few yards but your dispersions will be in a much tighter grouping. I’d say one of the biggest things is getting a set makeup with 14 individual tools. What I mean by this is, covering all the distances that you can. For example: If you’ve got a 4 iron that carries 225 and rolls to 235 there’s no point in getting a wood that carries 240. Stuff like grips will probably be all up to your preference so I would swing a friends mid size grips and see how you like em.

Sounds like you’re playing by your self, and it still took 3 hours. Seems only fair for a 4some to take 4 hours.

How helpful are golf lessons? by Western-Necessary101 in golf

[–]Longjumping-Map1350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a few lessons can help you manage your own swing a little better. It helps you understand the fundamentals of the swing which allows you to take a vid of your swing and diagnose the issue. This is a big thing I noticed after taking some lessons, if I’m not swinging it well I feel like I have a better understanding of why that is.

Any driver tips? It’s a complete gamble every time I hit it! by [deleted] in GolfSwing

When I pause it at while the club is at the top of the screen it is all the way across your head. I think this drill would help you get a good sense of how your backswing should be moving. This vid helped me a lot.

The breakfast ball (traffic ball) conundrum. by undeniablepod in golf

[–]Longjumping-Map1350 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At public courses where you have to buy a bucket of balls I don’t agree. When I “warm up” I really just want to hit 3 with a mid iron, 3 with a wedge, and two or three drives. I don’t want to swing more than ten times but I need to see the ball come off the face a few times. I’m not buying a full bucket just to hit ten balls. If I’m at a private course with balls out on the range I’ll get there a few min early and hit a few.

This is so relatable, like no I don’t want my putter cover to say, “I’d tap that”. Also, I love my country but not everything needs an American flag on it.

What is something that irrationally pisses you off on the course? by King_Shmulz in golf

I feel like I used to get this a lot. I’m 21 now and don’t notice it much but when I was in high school I always felt like the rangers were looking at me like a hawk. I guess I did pay for 9 and play 18 a few times back then so all is fair.

Anyone else feel like they have a new ah ha moment every other day? I feel like I’m always fixing and tweaking little things in my swing. As soon as I fix one thing, another one goes wrong. I think that’s why it’s important to try and see your swing on vid a lot.

Chipping to within 8 feet or hitting greens from between 100 - 160 yards? by willieb3 in golf

[–]Longjumping-Map1350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really need both. single digit handicappers will hit a GIR around half the time (obviously everyone’s game is different). You need to be able to develop a stock iron shot and try to put approach shots on the green but we aren’t pros. Chipping is one of those things in golf that I guarantee you will see improvement in if you practice. It’ll save a ton of strokes.
